About The Position

The Production Laborer operates and monitors various plant machinery and equipment, including loaders, forklifts, powered hand tools, stress jacks, button machines, and overhead cranes. Key responsibilities involve performing and assisting with production tasks such as fabrication, demolding, finishing, grinding, assembly, and material handling. The role also includes conducting basic routine maintenance, inspections, and service of equipment, documenting discrepancies, and reporting issues to supervisors. General manual labor tasks like lifting, pulling, carrying, sweeping, cleaning, and moving materials are required. The laborer monitors production flow, process parameters, and equipment performance to ensure quality and efficiency, and assists in troubleshooting and performing minor adjustments or repairs. Operating mobile equipment like forklifts, front-end loaders, cranes, and bobcats for material movement is essential. Maintaining clean, safe, and organized work areas, including outside material storage areas/yards and production floors, is also part of the job. Additional duties include assisting with shipping and receiving documentation, participating in safety meetings, training co-workers, performing inventory counts, and interpreting fabrication drawings and work instructions. Adherence to company principles, safety rules, and regulatory standards is mandatory.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in a heavy manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge; ability to use hand tools, grinders, valves, and switches.
  • Ability to read or learn to read blueprints, fabrication drawings, and verify dimensional requirements.
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) required for material calculations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with strong dependability and attendance.

Nice To Haves

  • 3 years preferred for advanced plant roles.
  • Experience operating forklifts, overhead cranes, and other mobile/heavy equipment is preferred.
  • Welding, cutting, or torching experience preferred.

  • Assist with shipping and receiving, including documentation, bills of lading, and daily production/yard status reports.
  • Participate in daily safety meetings and safety committees/initiatives.
  • Train, guide, and assist co-workers as needed.
  • Perform inventory counts, track supplies (PPE, water, tools), and submit requests when needed.
  • Read and interpret fabrication drawings, production manuals, and work instructions.
  • Follow all company principles, safety rules, and regulatory standards.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.
