About The Position

Would you like to manage a team of employees in the new highly automated manufacturing LEGO site in Virginia? The Production Group Leader will lead daily operations across highly automated manufacturing lines to ensure safe, stable, and efficient execution of the production plan. The Production Leader plays a critical role in supporting automated manufacturing operations by ensuring production systems, people, and processes operate together effectively. This role partners closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, and Planning teams to deliver stable production performance while supporting continuous improvement initiatives. The role helps drive operational excellence by balancing people leadership, technical guidance, and rapid decision-making in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, automation, mechatronics, manufacturing engineering, technical operations, or production management.
  • Extensive experience in manufacturing or production operations.
  • Experience leading teams in a production or automated manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of production important metrics including OEE, downtime, throughput, and scrap.
  • Hands-on experience with automated equipment, robotics, PLC-controlled systems, or material handling systems.
  • Experience with MES, SCADA, HMI, or production monitoring systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills in fast-paced operational environments.
  • Ability to coordinate multi-functional teams during operational issues or production disruptions.
  • Strong communication, coaching, and team development skills.
  • Ability to work onsite five days each week.
  • Ability to travel globally.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in highly automated or Industry 4.0 manufacturing environments.
  • Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience.
  • Experience supporting production ramp-ups or changeovers.
  • Knowledge of structured problem-solving tools such as PDCA, A3, or 5-Why.
  • Experience in consumer goods, automotive, plastics, electronics, or sophisticated manufacturing industries.
  • Previous experience working with digital manufacturing systems and automation analytics.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate activities among Operations, Maintenance, Technical, Quality Control, and Planning departments to maintain operational continuity.
  • Monitor production metrics such as OEE, downtime, scrap, efficiency, and system performance while driving corrective actions when needed.
  • Oversee automation systems through MES, SCADA, HMI, and related digital platforms to identify and respond to operational disruptions.
  • Lead critical issue response and structured problem-solving activities for downtime, quality concerns, and process instability.
  • Coach and develop frontline operators and technicians to build capability in automated manufacturing environments.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment reliability, production flow, and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure alignment to safety standards, operational procedures, and shift handover processes.
