About The Position

This role focuses on assembling complex gating systems in a varied and non-repetitive manner to produce mold forms for investment casting. The assembler is responsible for inspecting patterns, determining assembly methods, and accurately constructing these systems using various tools and techniques. The position also emphasizes a commitment to safety and teamwork.

Requirements

  • Ability to apply pattern gating assembly techniques, methods, materials, fixturing, and construction.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with others.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and promote team development.
  • Ability to read and follow complex written instructions.
  • Ability to lift and/or maneuver objects weighing thirty to fifty pounds.
  • Ability to work in conditions which may include exposure to noise, fumes, crowding, awkward physical positions, abrasions, cuts, and chemicals.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect patterns and gating components prior to assembly.
  • Read and follow technique card assembly instructions for unique and complex assembly steps.
  • Plan assembly methods and select appropriate techniques.
  • Assemble complex gating systems using torch, hot pencils, and hand tools.
  • Weld gates into place.
  • Smooth and gauge assembly contact areas.
  • Modify gates by reshaping, splicing, reducing, or building up for proper fit.
  • Hand fabricate elementary gating from raw stock.
  • Potentially develop code sheets for engineering modifications.
  • Inspect assemblies during and after the process to ensure quality.
  • Adhere to plant and department safety rules.
  • Safely operate all equipment and tools.
  • Identify and report safety problems.
  • Perform other duties as directed.
