The Production Foreman analyzes specifications, lays out metal stock, sets up and operates machine tools, and fits and assembles parts to fabricate and repair metalworking dies, cutting tools, jigs and fixtures, gauges, and machinists' hand tools. This role is responsible for the manufacturing of company products, meeting assigned shipping dates, and supervising production personnel. The position involves communicating custom orders, monitoring and reporting scrap, verifying Bills of Materials and inventory accuracy, and developing time standards. The Foreman forecasts and schedules daily work, approves overtime, manages employee time cards and attendance, and prepares employee evaluations. They maintain a clean work area, conduct monthly production meetings, and plan/direct employee activities to achieve objectives, while also mentoring, coaching, training, and developing the team. Additional responsibilities include overseeing and enforcing quality control processes, establishing QC checkpoints, reviewing and approving final deliverables, and investigating/resolving quality issues. The role also manages shipping and receiving operations, coordinates logistics, ensures proper material handling and storage, and works with vendors and carriers to optimize shipping efficiency while maintaining compliance with safety and company policies.
