About The Position

Fab Floor Trainers are responsible for teaching new hires in the Fab department how to perform their jobs, the safety rules they must follow, and the general layout and flow of the facility floor. The trainer will teach new hires the tasks required of them, such as different meat cuts, machine use, and technique. They will also stress the importance of work attendance and the vital role each employee fills on the line. The trainer will manage multiple new hires at a time and familiarize them with the facility, including the cafeteria, bathrooms, locker rooms, and human resources. Additionally, they will demonstrate the proper way to use and maintain a knife, provide Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) training, and report daily on new hires' progress and skill sets. The trainer will remain with new hires until they are fully capable and proficient enough to become permanent employees. They will also assist Human Resources with tours and attend weekly meetings with a supervisor to stay current with departmental updates.

Requirements

  • Must be able to work well with people and be respectful of others, with a great degree of patience
  • Must be knowledgeable about safety regulations for the facility, including (but not limited to) knives, food products, blood borne pathogens, chemicals, etc.
  • Must be flexible and team player
  • Must be able to problem solve issues that can arise while training
  • Must have a motivation to teach and help other employees
  • Must have experience working on the fabrication floor and have proficient skills in any position
  • Must exhibit exemplary attendance and a strong dedication to the company’s mission statement and core values

Nice To Haves

  • Multilingual skills and the ability to translate are recommended

Responsibilities

  • Teach new hired employees how to perform the tasks required of them, i.e. different meat cuts, machine use, technique, etc.
  • Stress to new hires the importance of wok attendance and the vital role they fill on the line
  • Manage multiple new hired employees at a time
  • Familiarize new hires with where to find everything in the facility, including (but not limited to) the cafeteria, bathrooms, locker rooms, human resources, etc.
  • Demonstrate new hires the proper way to use a knife and how to sharpen and maintain a blade
  • Provide Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) training for the new hires according to the specifications of the areas they work in
  • Report daily new hires’ progress in their positions and rate them based on their skill set, listening skills, morning stretches, improvement, safety awareness, attendance, correct PPE use, etc.
  • Remain with new hires until they are fully capable in their positions and are proficient enough to be permanent employees (i.e., “earn their white hats”)
  • Assist Human Resource with perspective and new employee tours
  • Attend weekly meetings with a supervisor in order to stay current with departmental updates and issues
