About The Position

The Fabrication Production Manager shall be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the production processes within the plant surrounding the fabrication, welding and paint departments at our Madison, South Dakota plant. Activities will include scheduling workload, manpower planning, and working with quality personnel to insure product quality. This position will influence safety performance and measurements to assist in achieving Yankton’s safety goals. Responsibility includes all activities required to coordinate the smooth, efficient flow of production through the shop.

Requirements

  • Minimum seven years of management experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Work schedule flexibility, with strong teamwork orientation.
  • Demonstrate leadership ability, including experience in coaching and training others.
  • Understand and support company policies and procedures.
  • Highly organized, detail oriented with good problem solving skills.
  • Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing principles.
  • Proficient in the use of Google software application along with the Microsoft suite software including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering and/or Manufacturing/Operation Management.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, lead and direct supervision for the daily production requirements in a safe, efficient, and quality manner.
  • Work closely with the Plant Manager to ensure all goals and objectives for production are achieved in accordance to the business plan.
  • Provide direction and leadership relative to product quality and customer acceptance, in conjunction with the Quality Assurance Department.
  • Facilitate plant improvement efforts such as 5-S, safety, and product flow.
  • Lead cost reduction programs through productivity, and fixed & variable cost control.
  • Work with manufacturing engineering staff to implement capital improvements.
  • Support all shifts in manpower planning, leadership, and goal setting objectives.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
