About The Position

This role is responsible for operating an industrial forklift to move materials within the warehouse or production areas, and for loading and unloading trucks or shipping containers. The position also involves maintaining the forklift, ensuring compliance with safety standards, assisting with warehouse organization and cleanliness, and supporting inventory processes. The Material Handler will perform various job duties related to material movement, inspection, record-keeping, and general warehouse upkeep.

Responsibilities

  • Operate industrial forklift to move materials in the warehouse or production areas.
  • Load and unload trucks or shipping containers.
  • Perform general maintenance on forklift and comply with all IOSHA standards and requirements for forklift safety.
  • Move materials into or away from the production area.
  • Assist in maintaining warehouse organization and cleanliness.
  • Maintain outside dock areas cleanliness.
  • Assist in inventory processes.
  • Move controls, devices, and levers to drive or operate forklifts or hand-lifts to transfer materials between unloading, processing, loading, and storage areas.
  • Ensure that all goods delivered to the warehouse are in accordance with approved orders and associated bill of lading or invoice.
  • Maintain records of all incoming inspection shipments from and to the warehouse, and interact with Purchasing Coordinator on warehouse stock.
  • Load or unload materials manually, off or onto pallets, platforms, skids, or lifting devices.
  • Perform routine post and pre-inspections to ensure suitable working nature of forklift equipment.
  • Report to supervisor regarding any damage to racks, faulty equipment, or other safety hazards.
  • Weigh products or materials, and record weight and other production information on labels and tags.
  • Consult, work, and coordinate with supervisors, managers, equipment manufacturers, and employees regarding unloading and loading operations.
  • Wrap material loads with a wrapper as required and keep the premises clean.
  • Complete forklift and/or hand-lift operator training provided by the company annually.
  • Operate lift truck or hand truck to move or hoist materials.
  • Pull parts and/or materials for production operations as required.
