Responsibilities

Sort, inspect, fold and bundle full dried linen.
Place on conveyors or carts.
Machine fold, small pieces such as bath towels, bibs, hand towels, patient gowns, or pillowcases.
Dump the sling containing work into lift table.
Sort load into like items, if required, while operating folder.
Inspect each piece to quality standards.
Place rejected items in appropriate basket.
Feed piece into machine entry point.
May pre-fold item and/or untie strings.
Lower lift table to floor level.
Set program number, fold width, counter, or other controls consistent with product.
Run wax cloth through equipment as required.
Sort and distribute mis-sorted items to appropriate bins, baskets or tables.
Turn off equipment; remove jammed items.
Machine fold, large pieces such as bath blankets, thermal blankets, or member specials.
Sort load into like items, if required, while presenting item corners to feeders.
Adjust output bundles to proper count and appearance.
Hand fold when required during equipment downtime.
Hand fold, various pieces such as mattress pads, pajama bottoms, gowns, jackets, incontinent pads, etc.; stack washcloths.
Fold and stack each item.
Count to proper bundle size.
Place bundles on conveyor.
Snap IV gowns before folding to identify failed snaps.
Patch holes in linen where required by quality standards.
Inspects and sorts mops/rags to standard.
Places mops/rags in plastic bag; close and tie bag.
May place mops/rags directly into carts.
Notify lead worker of equipment or linen problems.
May transport work from dryer area to mop area.
May place product in or pack from storage bins.
Move rewash to soil sort.
Move stain to scale, weigh and record, move stain to washroom.
Move final stain to scale, weigh and record, vacuum final stain to mending.
Move mending to scale, weigh and record, vacuum mending to mending.
Rotate among work stations hourly, unless under medical restriction.
May tie-up on carousels.
May assist lead worker in moving linen or tying slings.
May serve as trainer for new employees.
Remove rags from under lift tables; place in rag carts.
May clean work area and equipment.
Cover baskets to be processed for the next day.
Move non-MUHL linen to Soil Sort.
