Responsibilities

  • Sort, inspect, fold and bundle full dried linen.
  • Place on conveyors or carts.
  • Machine fold, small pieces such as bath towels, bibs, hand towels, patient gowns, or pillowcases.
  • Dump the sling containing work into lift table.
  • Sort load into like items, if required, while operating folder.
  • Inspect each piece to quality standards.
  • Place rejected items in appropriate basket.
  • Feed piece into machine entry point.
  • May pre-fold item and/or untie strings.
  • Lower lift table to floor level.
  • Set program number, fold width, counter, or other controls consistent with product.
  • Run wax cloth through equipment as required.
  • Sort and distribute mis-sorted items to appropriate bins, baskets or tables.
  • Turn off equipment; remove jammed items.
  • Machine fold, large pieces such as bath blankets, thermal blankets, or member specials.
  • Sort load into like items, if required, while presenting item corners to feeders.
  • Adjust output bundles to proper count and appearance.
  • Hand fold when required during equipment downtime.
  • Hand fold, various pieces such as mattress pads, pajama bottoms, gowns, jackets, incontinent pads, etc.; stack washcloths.
  • Fold and stack each item.
  • Count to proper bundle size.
  • Place bundles on conveyor.
  • Snap IV gowns before folding to identify failed snaps.
  • Patch holes in linen where required by quality standards.
  • Inspects and sorts mops/rags to standard.
  • Places mops/rags in plastic bag; close and tie bag.
  • May place mops/rags directly into carts.
  • Notify lead worker of equipment or linen problems.
  • May transport work from dryer area to mop area.
  • May place product in or pack from storage bins.
  • Move rewash to soil sort.
  • Move stain to scale, weigh and record, move stain to washroom.
  • Move final stain to scale, weigh and record, vacuum final stain to mending.
  • Move mending to scale, weigh and record, vacuum mending to mending.
  • Rotate among work stations hourly, unless under medical restriction.
  • May tie-up on carousels.
  • May assist lead worker in moving linen or tying slings.
  • May serve as trainer for new employees.
  • Remove rags from under lift tables; place in rag carts.
  • May clean work area and equipment.
  • Cover baskets to be processed for the next day.
  • Move non-MUHL linen to Soil Sort.
