About The Position

AVIRE is seeking a technically driven Production Engineer for its US site in Sussex, Wisconsin. The role supports growing manufacturing operations and owns process design, production tooling, validation, engineering changes, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement. The Production Engineer partners with engineering, quality, supply chain, and production teams to optimize manufacturing flow and deliver products on time, at optimized cost, and to required quality standards. The position serves as a manufacturing subject matter expert across new product introduction, sustaining engineering, and process improvement. It designs, validates, and optimizes production tooling and processes for new product launches and legacy products throughout their lifecycle. Regular on-site attendance is essential, and the role is authorized to stop production when safety, quality, or regulatory standards are not met.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field with 5–9 years of manufacturing or process engineering experience; or a master’s degree in a related field with 3–7 years of relevant experience; or 8+ years of direct relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge of quality system regulations and standards, such as ISO 9001, UL, and EN 81-28.
  • Ability to develop and design tooling architectures, develop processes, define process controls, and validate process and product performance.
  • Experience with analytical problem-solving using statistical methodologies.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams in a complex manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Ability to assess proposed mechanical and electrical design architectures and identify potential manufacturing, assembly, and service issues.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and interpersonal skills for communicating with manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, and supplier personnel.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to manage multiple assignments, and ability to work with self-initiative and independent judgment under limited supervision.
  • Regular on-site attendance is essential.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of JIT manufacturing, demand flow, and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Lean or Six Sigma certification is strongly desired.
  • Familiarity with a high-level programming language or software to support automated testing and data collection.
  • Experience with U.S., Canadian, and international product safety standards, including ANSI, CSA, UL, EN, and IEC.

Responsibilities

  • Lead manufacturing input into new product introduction, providing engineering support, tooling, PFMEAs, labor standards, and test strategies from prototype through production release.
  • Own the design, governance, and control of manufacturing processes, work instructions, test fixtures, and production programming; act as the manufacturing authority for process changes.
  • Define plant layout, production flow, and capacity plans, and coordinate manufacturing engineering resources to meet operational demand.
  • Maintain and improve production equipment and tooling to maximize OEE, and shape the technology, automation, and digitalisation roadmap.
  • Support the product lifecycle through root cause analysis, bottleneck resolution, and supplier engagement on quality and specifications.
  • Drive lean initiatives, constraint analysis, and workflow optimization on site, partnering with the global continuous improvement team to improve quality, cost, delivery, and productivity.
  • Train production personnel on new processes, procedures, and equipment.
  • Stop production when safety, quality, or regulatory standards are not met.
