About The Position

The Production Engineer is responsible for supporting and improving manufacturing processes, equipment, tooling, and production operations. This position works closely with Production Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, and other cross-functional teams to improve safety, quality, efficiency, and cost effectiveness. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in engineering principles, manufacturing processes, and continuous improvement, with the ability to manage projects and develop practical solutions in a manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering field from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience or academic background in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly with both technical and non-technical team members.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of experience in manufacturing or production engineering, particularly in a machining environment.
  • Experience with CNC equipment, machining processes, cutting tools, and cutting methods.
  • Experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or other CAD software.
  • Experience with robotics, tooling, or automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, TPS, 5S, JIT, PDCA, and/or Kaizen.
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience with electrical and mechanical design and analysis.
  • Experience conducting cost analysis or calculating return on investment (ROI).

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate manufacturing processes for feasibility, efficiency, quality, and cost effectiveness.
  • Lead and support Kaizen, continuous improvement, and cost-reduction projects.
  • Coordinate engineering changes and releases related to manufacturing processes, routings, standards, and production requirements.
  • Develop and maintain engineering documentation, including CAD and tooling documentation.
  • Utilize CAD software, including SolidWorks and AutoCAD, for equipment, tooling, and process development.
  • Support machining processes, including process design, project management, CNC equipment, cutting tools, and cutting methods.
  • Support the design, construction, implementation, and improvement of production tooling and equipment.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance and other departments on tooling and equipment improvements.
  • Assist with plant layouts, equipment installations, expansions, and facility modifications.
  • Investigate, justify, purchase, and track engineering-related equipment and assets.
  • Support projects focused on reducing cycle time, maintenance costs, and cost per piece.
  • Assist with the fabrication and implementation of specialized tools.
  • Serve as a Project Manager or project team member for tooling, equipment, and manufacturing improvement projects.
  • Monitor project schedules, budgets, status, and results.
  • Analyze manufacturing data and current processes to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare documentation, reports, and recommendations for management.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to implement approved improvements.
  • Promote and apply Lean Manufacturing principles, including TPS, 5S, JIT, PDCA, and Kaizen.
  • Promote a safe, quality-focused, and continuous improvement-oriented work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
