About The Position

The Production Supervisor – Discrete Manufacturing is responsible for leading Whitmore’s Air Sentry and Oil Safe manufacturing operations while also managing the reliability product portfolio, including Air Sentry and Oil Safe. This dual-role position oversees daily production activities, ensures compliance with safety and quality standards, drives continuous improvement, and owns the strategic direction, lifecycle management, and market performance of assigned product lines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business, or related field preferred.
  • Strong technical and management skills with a minimum of 2 years of operations experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • CAD or ability to design, draft and produce technical documentation.
  • A demonstrated record of strong people management, change management, strategic thinking and planning.
  • Hands-on and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and prioritize duties to meet deadlines.
  • High energy and superb communication skills with the ability to consultatively propose value propositions to our internal and external customers. Ability to work with all levels from corporate to field employees.
  • Proficient in ERP systems and KPI reporting tools.
  • Strong follow through skills to close leads and action items.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee Air Sentry/Oil Safe manufacturing operations, including direct supervision of employees assigned to the area.
  • Ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operations in accordance with internal standards and all applicable environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations.
  • Maintain compliance with corporate guidelines, procedures, and business ethics standards.
  • Ensure manufacturing, environmental, safety procedures, and personnel policies are in accordance with applicable laws.
  • Lead implementation of new products and processes at the site, ensuring safe and efficient startup.
  • Investigate customer complaints related to manufacturing and implement corrective actions.
  • Partner with Supply Chain and Sales to align production targets with customer requirements and ensure on-time delivery.
  • Develop and execute production schedules to meet agreed production plans.
  • Develop capacity and resource plans to provide flexibility and responsiveness to short-term demand changes.
  • Support the Inventory Cycle Counting program to ensure raw materials and finished goods accuracy and proper inventory rotation.
  • Manage departmental budget and headcount to ensure proper staffing while maintaining cost controls.
  • Identify and implement plant-level initiatives related to resource optimization, process efficiency, energy usage, yield improvement, and waste reduction.
  • Partner with Maintenance to ensure asset integrity, preventive maintenance, and proactive reliability programs are executed.
  • Ensure monthly reporting of key performance indicators (KPIs) including safety, quality, cost, delivery, and productivity metrics.
  • Recommend and execute corrective actions to achieve targets related to SHE (Safety, Health & Environment), cost, quality, on-time production, and asset integrity.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean manufacturing tools, 5S, Six Sigma, TPM, and Management of Change (MOC).
  • Ensure job-specific training is completed, assess training effectiveness, and develop a competent and flexible workforce.
  • Make decisions regarding corrective actions to resolve technical, safety, and quality issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Own and manage the reliability product portfolio, including Air Sentry and Oil Safe product lines.
  • Develop and execute product roadmaps in partnership with R&D, identifying technical and commercial development pathways.
  • Define market requirements for current and future products through market research, competitive analysis, and direct engagement with customers and prospects.
  • Translate customer insights into product specifications and development priorities.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Operations to ensure successful product launches and lifecycle management.
  • Monitor product performance, profitability, and market trends to drive growth and continuous improvement.
