About The Position

NBCUniversal is seeking motivated students for its Academic Year Internship Program, spanning two full semesters from September 21, 2026, to April 23, 2027. This paid internship offers the chance to work on real projects, contribute to meaningful work, and develop essential skills within a collaborative culture. The program is designed for curious, driven individuals excited about media, entertainment, and technology, providing an environment for daily learning and growth. Interns will work 16-24 hours per week in New York, NY, with schedules accommodating course loads. Opportunities are available across various departments within NBCUniversal Local, including Better Get Baquero & Responde, New York Live & Acceso Total, News Planning, Newsroom Assignment Desk, Digital NY Duopoly, and Creative Services.

Requirements

  • Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the entire duration of the program (September 2026 through April 2027).
  • Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits).
  • Must be presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and must not require work visa sponsorship from NBCUniversal now or in the future.
  • Must be available to work 16-24 hours per week from September 21, 2026 – April 23, 2027.
  • Must be willing to work in New York, NY.
  • Candidates currently on any student or exchange visa (e.g. F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, J-1, M-1) are not eligible to apply unless they will be able to change or adjust to another status that grants work authorization without NBCUniversal sponsorship.
  • Must have an active Social Security number.
  • Must complete I-9 form with Social Security number within 3 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Students with class standing of junior or above preferred.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • A background in Journalism, Production, Communications, Digital Media, or Research.
  • Strong interest in the media industry.
  • Commitment to building an inclusive work environment.
  • Ability to multitask and highly organized.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Previous internship experience within a corporate setting.
  • Familiarity with Social Media Platforms.
  • Familiarity with Final Cut Pro.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Familiarity with SEO tools such as Google Trends.
  • Knowledge of AP Style writing.
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus (written and verbal).

Responsibilities

  • Research, telephone interviews, book shoots, and log video for Better Get Baquero & Responde.
  • Work closely with an on-camera reporter and segment producer to generate news content.
  • Assist producers and talent on field shoots and in the studio for New York Live & Acceso Total.
  • Edit segments for the show.
  • Find stories, call contacts for details, and fact-check production and talent schedules for News Planning.
  • Assist during breaking news, shadow reporters and producers in the field/control room, and pre-interview guests.
  • Monitor newsroom activity and verify information for the Assignment Desk.
  • Contribute to text, audio, and video products for the Digital NY Duopoly, including processing AP stories, writing copy, shooting and editing video, and producing podcasts.
  • Shadow promotion producers and graphic designers through the creation of all promotion from brainstorm to completion for Creative Services.
  • Assist on shoots for productions.
