About The Position

VPI Compounding Pharmacy is looking for a Production Director to oversee and strengthen the day-to-day operations of our Production Department. This role is ideal for someone with strong production, operations, manufacturing, leadership, or process improvement experience who can bring structure, organization, accountability, and support to a growing team. The Production Director will be responsible for overseeing production workflow, staffing, scheduling, training, employee development, documentation, and overall department performance. This person will work closely with Production, Quality, Compliance, HR, and leadership to improve efficiency, strengthen communication, support team development, and ensure production goals are being met. This role does not require previous compounding pharmacy experience, but experience in a regulated, production, manufacturing, laboratory, healthcare, pharmaceutical, food production, or similar environment is strongly preferred.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in production, operations, manufacturing, pharmacy operations, lab operations, healthcare, quality, training, or a related field required.
  • Previous leadership or people management experience required.
  • Strong ability to organize departments, create structure, solve problems, and hold employees accountable.
  • Strong communication, leadership, planning, and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to review metrics, identify gaps, and create solutions that improve department performance.
  • Ability to support employee morale while still maintaining accountability and production expectations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience improving production workflow, scheduling, training, team structure, or operational efficiency strongly preferred.
  • Pharmacy or compounding experience is helpful, but not required for candidates with strong production and leadership experience.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily production operations, workflow, staffing, and scheduling.
  • Help create structure, organization, and accountability within the Production Department.
  • Lead, coach, and support production employees, supervisors, coordinators, and trainers.
  • Review scheduling practices and help ensure employees are being used effectively.
  • Identify opportunities for cross-training, employee growth, and improved team development.
  • Review production metrics, trends, and department feedback to identify areas needing improvement.
  • Work with Production, Quality, and Designated Trainers to support training and qualifications.
  • Ensure training records, qualification paperwork, and production documentation are completed and organized.
  • Identify gaps in workflow, communication, training, scheduling, and department structure.
  • Create and support solutions that improve efficiency, consistency, quality, and employee morale.
  • Partner with Quality, Compliance, HR, Engineering, and leadership to support production needs.
  • Help ensure production employees follow company procedures and applicable compliance expectations.
  • Provide regular updates to leadership regarding production performance, staffing, training, and department needs.
