About The Position

The Production Department Lead serves as the first point of contact for the team. They are responsible for building team capabilities, ensuring safe and efficient operations, proactively resolving challenges, and fostering a culture of accountability, quality, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of manufacturing operating systems.
  • Knowledge of 5S and continuous improvement principles.
  • Self-awareness and emotional intelligence to effectively lead and influence others.
  • Strong communication and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to coach and develop employees
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office)
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents.
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. without assistance.
  • Ability to safely use hand, air, pneumatic, and power tools, and machinery.
  • Ability to understand and operate all safety equipment in the area.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily shift start-up meetings to provide clear direction and set daily priorities to ensure efficient operations and daily production goals are met.
  • Train and/or coordinate training, as well as mentoring new employees.
  • Determine work procedures, prepare work schedules and expedite workflow.
  • Report KPI’s as needed
  • Assign duties and examine work for exactness, neatness and conformance to policies, procedures, and to the manufacturing schedule.
  • Troubleshoot issues that arise and confer with supervisors and production personnel to resolve problems, keeping projects moving toward the best outcome.
  • Responsible for identifying and moving all unfinished and finished products to the proper location within the shop operating a forklift, if trained.
  • Support quality, safety and continuous improvement activities.
  • Ensure all equipment is properly set up and used safely and that all safety devices are in use.
  • Perform inspections as required by company and customer standards.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality Control, HR, and other departments to strengthen operational alignment and communication.
  • Escalate employee performance or conduct concerns to Supervisor
  • Model integrity and professionalism by upholding company policies and addressing violations appropriately.
  • Communicate timely any production updates, schedule changes to supervisors and team members.
