About The Position

The Production Controller is responsible for end-to-end control of production orders from release to goods receipt, ensuring accurate SAP transactions, Bill of Material (BOM) integrity, and efficient interdepartmental flow (planning, procurement, production, quality, maintenance, and logistics). This role balances schedule adherence, material availability, capacity utilization, and compliance to achieve OTIF (On-Time, In-Full) delivery and cost targets.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years in manufacturing planning/control or shop floor scheduling
  • High proficiency with SAP PP/MM (or equivalent ERP)
  • Hands-on with production orders, BOMs, routings, work centers, MRP, and inventory transactions.
  • Understanding of capacity planning, takt time, standard work, and OEE basics.
  • Familiarity with quality systems and documentation control.
  • Advanced Excel (pivot tables, lookups)
  • Basic data analysis

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s in supply chain, Operations, Industrial Engineering, or related field; or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in automotive / aerospace / medical device / chemicals / electronics manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of APS tools and finite scheduling, kanban/pull systems, S&OP.
  • Certifications: CPIM/CSCP, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.
  • Exposure to Power BI or similar is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Convert and stage production/process orders in SAP (PP/MM), ensuring accurate confirmations, backflushing, and variances are recorded.
  • Validate BOMs and routings (work centers, standard times, scrap factors) prior to order release, initiate corrections via master data governance.
  • Monitor MRP signals and exception messages; align with planning on reschedules, expedites, and shortages.
  • Reconcile order settlement variances (material, labor, overhead) and collaborate with finance on root-cause and corrective actions.
  • Maintain strict transactional discipline for goods issues, goods receipts, and WIP.
  • Sequence and dispatch orders by line/cell according to frozen schedule, ATP, and capacity constraints.
  • Coordinate across departments (Purchasing, Warehouse, Production Supervisors, Quality, Engineering, Maintenance) to resolve blockers (shortages, NC material, equipment downtime).
  • Track and drive schedule adherence, takt attainment, and line changeovers per plan.
  • Manage hold, rework, and deviation orders with proper documentation and traceability.
  • Perform pre-release BOM audits (components, alternates, substitutions), validate effectivity dates and ECO/ECN incorporation.
  • Ensure revision control is consistent across BOMs, routings, and documentation, partner with Engineering on change implementation.
  • Lead periodic cycle checks of high-value or critical BOMs; investigate BOM yield losses and scrap trends.
  • Confirm material availability (MRP stock, open POs, transfer orders) before order release; prevent partial kits unless approved.
  • Drive kitting completeness and discrepancy resolution; maintain accuracy for backflushing and batch/lot tracking.
  • Support cycle counts and root-cause analysis for inventory adjustments.
  • Ensure production orders carry correct inspection plans, sampling, and quality inspection points.
  • Manage and enable the upstream query process to maintain timely closure.
  • Enforce documentation standards: batch records, travelers, labels, and traceability/serialization where applicable.
  • Support internal/external audits and maintain compliance with regulatory entities.
  • Publish daily/weekly KPIs: OTIF, schedule adherence, WIP, yield, scrap, rework hours, labor efficiency, lead time.
  • Lead or support kaizen and A3 problem solving to eliminate delays, reduce WIP, and improve right-first time.
  • Standardized work and visual controls for order flow, kitting, and deviation management.
