Requirements

  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) or two-year industry-related technical degree plus 2 – 3 years’ experience and/or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and performance in Work Centers responsible for.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with customers, and the ability to convey a positive and professional image of service and support to employees at all levels of responsibility.
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills required, particularly in oral format.
  • Ability to read English and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedures, manuals, and order specifications.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages.
  • Ability to read a ruler to 1/16th of an inch.
  • Ability to apply practical knowledge and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Mechanical and spatial aptitude.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and quality.
  • Enthusiasm, dedication, reliability, and punctuality required.
  • Ability to move from one task/assignment on short notice, comfortable in a fast-moving environment.
  • Ability to lead and develop team members.

Nice To Haves

  • 6 to 12 months of Great Northern production work experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate activities related to the timely execution and completion of all manufacturing and distribution processes to assure delivery requirements are met.
  • Coordinate timely manufacturing process completion, product quality, and shipping requirements, while interfacing with various Great Northern personnel.
  • Assist the 3rd Shift Production Supervisor with providing work direction and overseeing employees, machinery or equipment, work methods, raw materials, and the work environment in the Manufacturing Department.
  • Investigate and take prompt action when problems related to manufacturing schedule adherence, safety, product quality, equipment failure, or material waste and scrap disrupt planned delivery.
  • Keep the Production Supervisor informed of incidents and make recommendations to prevent similar problems.
  • Perform all job responsibilities in strict adherence to the Company’s Mission/Values Statement and in accordance with established standards.
  • Ensure manufacturing execution in accordance with the work center schedule and customer expectations.
  • Achieve appropriate work center and/or process performance as defined by performance measurements and goals.
  • Provide machine operator feedback regarding performance and timely order completion.
  • Provide work direction to team members.
  • Effectively manage product and/or process quality and non-conformances.
  • Initiate process conformance and improvement when needed.
  • Work from complex verbal or written process/production specifications, instructions, diagrams, or models.
  • Provide and maintain an executable production schedule on a daily basis to ensure customer expectations are met.
  • Follow safe operating procedures and all safety rules and guidelines.
  • Select printing plates or dies, fill ink wells with the required color, and adjust ink flow as required.
  • Observe machine operation to detect product defects or machine malfunctions.
  • Assist in adjusting settings and controls as required to ensure product meets specifications and quality standards.
  • Measure product dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation and perform quality inspection of finished product.
  • Count, stack, mark, band, and transport finished product to the proper area.
  • Perform a wide variety of jobs within plant operations as needed.
  • Perform a variety of miscellaneous job-related tasks as may be assigned.
