About The Position

Ameriforge is in search of a qualified candidate for the position available at our Houston, TX facility. This position is accountable for assisting in all facets of Production Control activities which include maintaining the manufacturing system and all required documentation while ensuring that required material is supplied to the production floor.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of basic Production Control principles
  • Understanding metal forging processes, thermal treatment, and heavy machinery workflows.
  • Mastery of master scheduling, capacity planning, and material flow principles in heavy manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with QAD software, or similar ERP system, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Understanding of metallurgical inspection standards, machining tolerances, and blueprint reading.
  • Resolving bottlenecks, minimizing downtime, and addressing supply chain delays under tight deadlines.
  • Conveying instructions clearly across departments.
  • Managing shifting priorities between raw material delivery, active forging lines, and final shipping.
  • Making calm, rapid operational calls when equipment failure or material shortages threaten the production schedule.
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum 3–5 years of production control, scheduling, or logistics experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment (e.g., forging, casting, machining, or heavy steel fabrication).
  • Minimum 2 years of direct supervisory or team leadership experience on a manufacturing shop floor.
  • Experience utilizing QAD, or similar ERP/MRP systems for inventory and capacity planning.

Responsibilities

  • Planning and managing production schedules to ensure 100% on-time delivery of all customer orders
  • Ensures raw materials are available and allocates raw materials to job orders
  • Monthly cycle counts on raw materials
  • Creates work orders in QAD and is responsible for the accuracy of the orders
  • Creates configuration for the existing work orders for the production schedule
  • Assists in entering shop labor transactions in QAD
  • Records transfers and issues of materials in QAD, with responsibilities involving work in process and finished goods
  • Reviews new customer purchase orders; makes decisions regarding Due Date using AFGPS, QAD, and input from the Production Scheduling team
  • Assists in creating new part numbers and routers as needed for sales orders
  • Assists the Purchasing Team on fulfilling material needs based on sales orders demand
  • Reconciles work order reports; determines inventory variance root cause; works with team to establish containment and preventative actions
  • Records and maintains documentation necessary for production
  • Attend all FVC-related production, quality, etc., meetings
  • Follow company policies and procedures
  • Support and/or participate in the organization’s Continuous Improvement Programs
  • Proactively participates in the Ameriforge Safety Program
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
