About The Position

The Production Control Specialist is responsible for ensuring that manufacturing jobs assigned to designated production resource groups are fully prepared for efficient execution. This position coordinates production readiness by proactively identifying and resolving issues related to materials, tooling, engineering documentation, quality requirements, programs, and scheduling before work reaches the production floor. Working cross-functionally with Planning, Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, Material Control, and Production, the Production Control Specialist serves as the primary point of coordination for production readiness, helping maximize equipment utilization, reduce downtime, improve throughput, and support on-time customer delivery.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of manufacturing experience, preferably in an aerospace environment.
  • Experience with manufacturing processes, equipment, and industry standards such as ISO, AS9100, NADCAP, and FAA regulations.
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong understanding of production planning, scheduling, and manufacturing operations.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (Epicor experience preferred).
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Legally able to work in the United States.
  • Adhere to OSHA, NADCAP, ISO9000 / AS9100, ITAR, FAA regulations and company specific safety standards.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods (up to 8-12 hours per shift).
  • Able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25-50lbs regularly, and occasionally heavier weights with assistance.
  • Must be able to tolerate exposure to manufacturing environments, including moderate noise levels, vibrations, and varying temperatures.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment as required, such as safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection.

Responsibilities

  • Review upcoming production schedules to ensure jobs are fully prepared for execution.
  • Verify that all required materials, tooling, fixtures, programs, work instructions, engineering documentation, travelers, and quality requirements are available prior to production.
  • Manage staging function at critical or overloaded resource groups
  • Identify production constraints and coordinate timely resolution before jobs reach the assigned work centers.
  • Prevent production delays by proactively addressing readiness issues with internal departments.
  • Ensure production orders are complete and accurate before release to manufacturing.
  • Monitor work queues for assigned resource groups and maintain production readiness.
  • Coordinate production priorities with Planning, Production Supervisors, and Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Assist in balancing workloads to maximize equipment and labor utilization.
  • Monitor work-in-process (WIP) and identify jobs that may impact production schedules.
  • Support schedule recovery efforts when production disruptions occur.
  • Serve as the primary production readiness resource for assigned manufacturing areas.
  • Respond quickly to production issues affecting workflow.
  • Coordinate corrective actions to minimize machine downtime and production interruptions.
  • Assist in prioritizing work based on customer requirements and operational needs.
  • Collaborate with: Production Planning, Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering, Quality Assurance, Purchasing, Material Control, Tooling, Production Supervisors, Maintenance to remove obstacles that may impact production performance.
