About The Position

Rantec Power Systems Inc. is hiring Interns at $21.00/hr! Come join our team! Based in Los Osos, California, located along California's scenic Central Pacific coastline, Rantec offers many outstanding benefits. Rantec is an upper-tier designer and manufacturer of power supplies for the military and aerospace markets. We are an engineering-based company, with expertise in all aspects of power supply design, manufacturing and test. The Production Control Intern will work cross-functionally with the Planning, Production, and Inventory Control groups to monitor and drive improvement to work-in-process (WIP) levels. This person will gain valuable hands-on experience while being part of a team that foster’s innovation, employee engagement, and fact-based results. The main objective of this position will be to categorize, analyze, and improve Rantec’s inventory levels by driving reductions in WIP levels, primarily focusing on aging work orders. This will consist of physical consolidation and organization of product across the manufacturing facility, and communication to essential personnel on how to progress it forward in its relative manufacturing, test, or inspection process.

Requirements

  • This position requires access to our export-controlled commodities, technical data, technology and services. These items are restricted under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) to U.S. Citizens, Lawful Permanent Residents of the U.S. and properly licensed foreign persons. Therefore, employment is contingent on compliance with ITAR regulations and successfully obtaining and maintaining the necessary export authorization license from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security, U.S. Department of State’s Office of Defense Trade Controls, or other applicable government agency.
  • Interest in electronics manufacturing
  • 1 year of previous related experience preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Pursuing degree related to Manufacturing, Operations, or Industrial Engineering
  • Ability to manage time and tasks.
  • Able to communicate clearly to document instructions of processes.
  • Good technical writing skills
  • Good organization skills with superb attention to detail
  • Ability to analyze drawings, written procedures, and processes to find the best method of achieving desired results.
  • Ability to design basic MFG tooling using SolidWorks or AutoCAD software.
  • Knowledge of ERP & MRP software
  • Excellent interpersonal as well as verbal and written communication skills
  • 3.0 or higher GPA

Responsibilities

  • Ensure effective flow of work-in-process (WIP) both at the sub-assembly and final assembly level
  • Prioritize/expedite specific work orders across all manufacturing and test cells/locations within the facility.
  • Implement efficient process for sustained WIP prioritization.
  • Proactively identify stagnant WIP, track it down (physically), understand the appropriate next step or action to get back into standard flow. Engage the IPT as appropriate to do so.
  • Update product routers within Rantec’s ERP system as necessary.
  • Value stream mapping of production processes and product to eliminate waste.
  • Contribute to manufacturing team to solve problems that reduce defects and cost, as seen fit
  • Solve a variety of production problems daily.
  • Provide feedback on current planning and manufacturing methods.
  • Provide continuous improvement opportunities between planning, manufacturing, and inventory control to more effectively track, manage, and prioritize WIP.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and/or different shifts, as required.
  • Ability to work in a safe professional manner adhering to all regulatory requirements including OSHA, EPA, State and Federal Regulations.
