Production Cell/Group Lead
About The Position
The Production Lead is responsible for supporting daily production operations to ensure safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and cost goals are met. This role works closely with the Production Supervisor to help coordinate workflow, support team members on the production floor, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. The Production Lead serves as a hands-on leader for the production team, helping to maintain efficient operations, troubleshoot issues, communicate priorities, and promote a positive team environment. This position reports directly to the Production Supervisor and does not have direct supervisory responsibilities. Our Division: ITW Seats & Motion, a division within the Automotive Segment of ITW, designs and manufactures innovative seating and motion solutions for global customers. While serving leading automotive OEMs and Tier suppliers, we also support the office furniture and stadium seating markets. Our expertise includes seating adjustment systems and motion-control technologies such as viscous dampers, air dampers, and latching systems that enhance comfort, safety, and performance across a variety of applications.
Requirements
- Supports production goals by helping maintain efficiency, quality, and on-time delivery performance
- Promotes teamwork and communication across departments while supporting daily production needs and problem-solving efforts
- Identifies opportunities for process improvements and supports implementation of ITW Toolbox initiatives
- Assists with employee training, coaching, and development to help strengthen team performance and engagement
Responsibilities
- Support daily production operations to ensure schedules, quality standards, and customer requirements are met
- Assist in coordinating daily work assignments and production priorities for Production Floor Technicians, Material Handlers, and Automation/Repair Technicians
- Serve as a floor leader and point of contact for production-related questions and issues during the shift
- Drive improvement in manufacturing processes using the ITW Toolbox
- Promote and maintain a safe, clean, and organized production environment utilizing 5S principles
- Monitor production flow and communicate concerns related to safety, quality, downtime, staffing, or delivery to the Production Supervisor
- Assist with training and onboarding of new employees and provide ongoing support to team members
- Help ensure inventory accuracy and support production data entry and reporting activities
- Support troubleshooting efforts and help implement containment and corrective actions when issues arise
- Collaborate regularly with Quality, HR, Customer Service, Molding, and Automation teams regarding production concerns and priorities
- Lead by example through teamwork, accountability, communication, and positive employee engagement
- Complete other duties and responsibilities as assigned
