About The Position

This position will assist the Team Lead as the first line of leadership within the department for all hourly team members within the department. In general, the Group Lead will ensure Team Lead and Team Members adhere to all safety expectations, and policies regarding quality and productivity.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 2-year manufacturing experience, preferably in automotive industry.
  • Minimum of 2 years as Group Lead in manufacturing industry.
  • Beginner to intermediate level in MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and in the use of e-mail, web browser applications.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Minimal analytical, planning skills and critical thinking ability required with orientation for continuous improvement.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English.
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to effectively manage a variety of projects and tasks.
  • Takes initiative, approaches others in a positive and constructive manner, and works well independently to achieve results.
  • Must be able to work with a wide variety of personalities to create a positive work environment, and professionally resolve conflicts.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual English-Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor TLs and TMs for adherence to Safety rules, address concerns raised by TL’s.
  • Train and ensure all Team Members perform pre-shift stretch exercises and follow proper ergonomics.
  • Set up and rotate Team Members to avoid repetitive stress injuries.
  • Monitor change-over activities
  • Ensure Team Members have and wear proper PPE as defined for each work area.
  • Adhere to and uphold all safety policies established.
  • Enforce Stop-Call –Wait for any Equipment/machine/parts related safety concern.
  • Report injuries or pains to Supervisor and implement and audit corrective actions/countermeasures as appropriate.
  • Coordinate SWI/Production document improvements/revision control to ensure latest approved version is always used.
  • Begin/End Jobs in MATTEC. Audit to ensure scrap/downtime reasons are being entered by TM’s.
  • Perform quality checks on all parts throughout the shift periodically.
  • Spot audit TM’s in training.
  • Monitor and analyze scrap, seeking to reduce/eliminate.
  • Assist the Supervisor with the management of all overtime for the shift.
  • Review OEE press by press per plan, escalate issues.
  • Identify material/finished goods packaging shortages, material run-out times.
  • Manage Mold Changes, track and mitigate.
  • Schedule and coordinate mold changes based on productivity needs as shown by Heijunka boards.
  • Ensure targeted OEE goals are achieved.
  • Assist in executing countermeasures to overcome constraints in reaching OEE targets.
  • Partner with Training and Development Administrator to ensure effective and efficient training for new hires occurs consistently, as well as cross training activities for other team members.
  • Complete required reports, accurately and in a timely fashion as requested by Supervisor
  • Ability to effectively coach, train and develop and engage team members to meet KPI expectations.
  • Enforcing use of Standard Work Instructions (SWI’s)
  • Ability to problem solve proficiently and conduct root cause analyses (RCA’s)
  • Attain the daily production schedule required (85% OEE)
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
