About The Position

As our Production / Label Room Associate, you will help Rust-Oleum deliver our products on time by operating, monitoring, and adjusting filling and packaging equipment to safely produce high-quality products while maintaining efficiency, performing basic maintenance, ensure accurate production records and label accuracy.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of related experience.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Ability to read and understand various meters, scales and electronic read outs.
  • Ability to enter computer data.
  • Good mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to solve problems in a team environment.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • English Language — Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Mechanical — Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Operation Monitoring — Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
  • Quality Control Analysis — Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
  • Operation and Control — Controlling operations of equipment or systems.
  • Monitoring — Monitoring/Assessing performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.
  • Critical Thinking — Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Troubleshooting — Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.
  • Coordination — Adjusting actions in relation to others’ actions.
  • Equipment Maintenance — Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.

Responsibilities

  • Review job orders to determine details such as quantities to be filled, production times, stock specifications, BOM's, and SKU sequences.
  • Set and adjust speed, temperature, product flow, positions and tolerances of equipment.
  • Operate equipment at most efficient speed to ensure proper quality and output.
  • Monitor filling equipment to maintain specified operating levels and to detect malfunctions, making adjustments as necessary.
  • Stop machines when malfunctions occur, clear jams, and report unresolved malfunctions to a machine operator, lead, maintenance, and then management.
  • Change over or adjust equipment to improve performance and quality, using knobs, hand wheels, and/or hand tools.
  • Inspect and examine products for quality, packaging accuracy, conformance to specifications, and external defects.
  • Secure finished packaged items by gluing, stapling, wrapping, taping, or attaching fastener.
  • Load and unload materials, product, or packaging from machines, containers, conveyors, and conveyances.
  • Perform TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) per requirements. May require recording information such as weight, count, time, scrap and date packaged.
  • Stock and sort product for packaging or filling machine operation, and replenish packaging supplies, such as wrapping paper, plastic sheet, boxes, cartons, glue, ink, or labels to ensure all shifts requirements are met.
  • Responsibility for the equipment performance, efficient changeovers, operation, and preventative maintenance.
  • Ensure accurate counts of labels used and scrapped; and ensure appropriate inventory transactions are completed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Communicate with Supervisors, peers, or subordinates: provide information to supervisors and co-workers in written form or in person.
  • Maintain a good record of attendance and punctuality.
  • Learn all manual tasks performed within the department.
  • Perform tasks assigned using specific operating procedures and following department specific quality control processes and procedures.
