About The Position

The Production Associate is responsible for safely operating equipment for the handling and production of packaged gas cylinders, both for high pressure and liquefied gasses. This role involves loading and unloading gas cylinders and/or other products onto and off of route trucks and trailers, moving cylinders with proper carts, and sorting empty cylinders by type. The associate will also roll cylinders and operate a forklift truck for the movement of cylinders on pallets. A key aspect of this role is understanding the hazards of various gases and cylinder information by reading and interpreting cylinder labels and color-coding. The position requires accurate labeling of cylinders, handling of high-pressure, medical, and liquid cylinders, and preparing high pressure cylinders and cryogenic vessels for filling. This includes attaching to a manifold and evacuating cylinders to eliminate contaminants. Basic cylinder maintenance such as painting, labeling, and cleaning the work area is also part of the responsibilities. The role involves inspecting cylinders prior to filling according to government, Airgas, and distributor standards, conducting safety checks, and filling cylinders by pressure and weight. Inventory checks and paperwork management according to DOT, FDA, OSHA, and Airgas standards are also required, along with completing quality control sheets and complying with all safety standards for hazardous materials/cylinder gases.

Requirements

  • High school degree or GED required.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Lives by Airgas safety programs, OSHA, and all related rules, regulations, procedures which are applicable to this position's responsibilities.
  • A minimum of 1 year of related technical experience.
  • In lieu of specific industry experience, may accept an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience utilizing SAP or similar ERP system preferred.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Google Suite or Microsoft Office applications.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratios, and percent.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate equipment for the handling and production of packaged gas cylinders, both for high pressure and liquefied gasses.
  • Loads and unloads gas cylinders and/or other products onto and off of route trucks and trailers moving cylinders with proper carts only.
  • Sorts empty cylinders by type.
  • Rolls cylinders and operates a forklift truck for the movement of cylinders on pallets.
  • Understands hazards of various gases; size and contents of cylinders by reading and interpreting cylinder labels and the color-coding of tanks.
  • Accurately labels cylinders.
  • Handles high-pressure, medical and liquid cylinders.
  • Prepares high pressure cylinders and cryogenic vessels for filling.
  • Attaches to manifold, evacuates cylinders to eliminate all possible contaminants.
  • Performs basic cylinder maintenance such as painting cylinders, labeling cylinders, and cleaning of work area.
  • Inspects cylinders prior to filling, following standard procedures as required by government, Airgas, and distributor standards.
  • Conducts a variety of Safety checks per procedures, such as odor tests, checking caps and valves.
  • Fills cylinders by pressure and weight, per regulations and standards.
  • Checks for cylinder quantities, styles and product, and/or assists with inventory.
  • Manages paperwork to DOT, FDA, OSHA, and Airgas standards.
  • Completes quality control sheets as required.
  • Complies with all government and company standards relating to the safe handling of hazardous materials/cylinder gases.
