The Production Associate is responsible for safely operating equipment for the handling and production of packaged gas cylinders, both for high pressure and liquefied gasses. This role involves loading and unloading gas cylinders and/or other products onto and off of route trucks and trailers, moving cylinders with proper carts, and sorting empty cylinders by type. The associate will also roll cylinders and operate a forklift truck for the movement of cylinders on pallets. A key aspect of this role is understanding the hazards of various gases and cylinder information by reading and interpreting cylinder labels and color-coding. The position requires accurate labeling of cylinders, handling of high-pressure, medical, and liquid cylinders, and preparing high pressure cylinders and cryogenic vessels for filling. This includes attaching to a manifold and evacuating cylinders to eliminate contaminants. Basic cylinder maintenance such as painting, labeling, and cleaning the work area is also part of the responsibilities. The role involves inspecting cylinders prior to filling according to government, Airgas, and distributor standards, conducting safety checks, and filling cylinders by pressure and weight. Inventory checks and paperwork management according to DOT, FDA, OSHA, and Airgas standards are also required, along with completing quality control sheets and complying with all safety standards for hazardous materials/cylinder gases.
