About The Position

Airgas is hiring a Production Associate (Cylinder Filler) in Hingham, MA. This role is responsible for safely handling and filling gas products into liquid, medical, and high-pressure gas cylinders in compliance with regulations and Airgas's standard operating procedures. The position involves reviewing cylinders before filling, conducting safety checks, analyzing product purity, preparing and filling cylinders, and assisting with loading/unloading. Accurate record-keeping and knowledge of gas hazards are essential. The company emphasizes a diverse and inclusive workplace.

Requirements

  • High school degree or GED required.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • A minimum of 1 year of related technical experience. In lieu of specific industry experience, may accept an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Lives by Airgas safety programs, OSHA, and all related rules, regulations, procedures which are applicable to this position's responsibilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience utilizing SAP or similar ERP system preferred.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Google Suite or Microsoft Office applications.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratios, and percent.

Responsibilities

  • Safely handle and fill gas products into liquid, medical, and high-pressure gas cylinders in compliance with federal, state, local regulations, and Airgas's standard operating procedures.
  • Review and ensure cylinders prior to filling, following established guidelines to meet government, Airgas, and distributor standards.
  • Conduct a variety of safety checks per procedures, such as odor tests and checking caps and valves.
  • Analyze products for purity and correct mixtures.
  • Take care of high-pressure, medical, and liquid cylinders.
  • Prepare high-pressure cylinders and cryogenic vessels for filling.
  • Attach to manifold and evacuate cylinders to ensure quality and purity.
  • Fill cylinders by pressure and weight, per regulations and standards.
  • Assist with the loading and unloading of cylinders on and off pallets and tractor trailers.
  • Maintain accurate records to DOT, FDA, OSHA, and Airgas standards.
  • Complete quality control sheets as required.
  • Be knowledgeable of hazards of various gases, size, and contents of cylinders by reading and interpreting cylinder labels and color-coding of tanks.
  • Support accurate labeling of cylinders.
  • Other duties as assigned.
