About The Position

The Saw Operator is responsible for using a computerized cutting system to cut vinyl to the exact dimensions required for the final assembly of windows. This role involves working in a fast-paced, physically demanding, and repetitive environment, which may include heavy lifting or working with hands. The position requires operating various hand tools, lifting and moving vinyl lineals, moving carts, sorting and selecting materials based on schedule reports, operating computerized equipment safely, loading vinyl components, placing scrap in designated barrels, and maintaining accurate parts drop inventory. The Saw Operator also performs quality audits, engages in problem-solving, conducts quality checks of cut parts, and performs 5S and housekeeping duties. During line stoppages, the associate will perform assigned downtime duties.

Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds regularly and stand for duration of entire shift.
  • Must cross-train and rotate on various workstations within line/complex.
  • Ability to measure lengths accurately to 1/32”
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals Able to convert fractions to decimals.
  • Ability to read and understand schedule’s workflow report, and written instructions.
  • Capable of using computerized equipment
  • Ability to move production carts.
  • Be able to recognize part by shape and color.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age to apply.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 - 3 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred

Responsibilities

  • Operation of various hand tools to manually construct window units
  • Lift and move vinyl lineals from the storage area to saw workstation.
  • Movement of carts in and out of production workstations.
  • Sort and select the correct batch to process based on line’s schedule flow report.
  • Operate safely equipment with computerized system.
  • Loading vinyl components into the production carts.
  • Place scrap in the corresponding barrel (as per 5S process).
  • Maintain correct parts drops inventory listed in the system present in the drop bin location?
  • Ensures overall quality of work produced by performing quality audits and engaging in problem solving activities to resolve issues of concern.
  • Audit quality check of cut parts.
  • Performs 5S & housekeeping as expected.
  • During line stoppages, performs downtime duties assigned to this workstation.
