About The Position

Chicago Tube and Iron Company is a leader in the metals distribution and fabrication industry. We are an established company with an impressive record of profitability and growth. This role is responsible for ensuring parts are made to customer prints and specifications by monitoring LT Free equipment, performing quality inspections and correcting machine issues that affect the quality of the parts with direction from Leads and Senior Operators.

Requirements

Good mechanical aptitude
Experience in the use of standard shop tools and inspection measuring tools, such as tape measures, calipers, and micrometers.
Basic math, computer skills.
Ability to sit, stand, and walk throughout work schedule, 6-8 hours per day.
Ability to regularly maneuver up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

manufacturing or fabrication experience is a plus.
Ability to read blueprints/ shop drawings is a plus.

Responsibilities

Operate handling equipment to load and unload tubes/product to/from the LT Free laser machine
Monitor machine when operator is not present and ensure its continued operation; load/unload material and check for general acceptable cut condition of completed parts
Assist operators with loading and packaging laser cut parts into boxes
Use quality tools, such as tape measure, calipers, and micrometers to conduct quality inspection of parts
Assist in the secondary operations required to complete parts (tapping, cleaning, grinding)
Follow all health & safety standards
