Keyser - Production Assistant (Night Shift)
About The Position
The Production Assistant supports the extrusion operator in efficiently operating extrusion equipment and producing quality products in a large, 24/7 manufacturing environment. The role contributes to accident-free operations and compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements. It includes inspecting products against specifications, preparing finished material for packaging and moving it to designated areas, assisting with machine cleaning, and completing production and quality documentation. The position also involves communicating relevant production information, following plant and company procedures, and maintaining a clean production area.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least 1 year of experience.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to read, write, and understand English.
- Basic math proficiency, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers and fractions.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and read gauges and similar measuring devices.
- Must know how to read a ruler.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to accident-free operations and comply with health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements and regulations.
- Assist the department in producing products that meet specifications.
- Monitor and complete quality checks, including checking product color, surface, and size before packaging.
- Place pallets and package finished material using proper techniques as directed.
- Move material to designated areas as needed.
- Assist the extrusion operator with machine cleaning, including cleaning saws and tanks, when necessary.
- Communicate daily issues and relevant information to production assistants, assistant operators, operators, and team leaders as needed.
- Follow plant safety procedures to protect personal safety and the safety of others.
- Follow company policies, practices, and procedures.
- Complete production operator reports in detail.
- Complete additional quality and production paperwork as necessary.
- Complete and attach labels according to product specifications.
- Perform housekeeping duties in the production area.
- Perform additional duties as needed or assigned by leadership.
