About The Position

The United States Agency for Global Media (USAGM) is seeking a Production Assistant to support live and recorded broadcasts. This role involves assisting with script compilation, studio setup, guest coordination, and gathering production elements. The position also includes training in multimedia journalism (video, audio, editing) and the use of technical equipment. The Production Assistant will contribute to teamwork, meet VOA standards for productivity and quality, and perform data entry for the digital asset management system. This is a personal services contractor position with VOA News and requires passing a background check.

Responsibilities

Assist production staff with preparation for live and recorded broadcasts.
Help compile scripts, production notes, guest information, and program materials.
Support studio setup and prepare production areas prior to broadcasts.
Coordinate basic communication between production personnel, guests, and talent.
Escort guests and assist with check-in and studio logistics.
Monitor production schedules and help ensure materials are available when needed.
Assist with gathering video clips, graphics, and other production elements.
Perform research and fact-gathering to support program development.
Assist in the preparation of production elements of programs and content for broadcast and/or web and social media, including simple editing of voiceover and soundcuts from taped material, as assigned.
Contribute to teamwork, facilitating tasks of teammates, as needed.
Meet VOA standards for productivity, quality, and meeting deadlines.
Work as a member of a team.
Log and conduct data entry and other functions connected with VOA’s digital asset management system.
Train as a multimedia journalist (video, audio, editing).
Train on the use of technical equipment.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
