About The Position

Production assistants are valuable assets to a production team assisting in a variety of tasks related to content creation including pre-production, camera, lighting, sound, editing, post-production, and delivery. The Production Assistant Intern works directly with Production Services staff to assist in the creation of multimedia content for marketing. This student employment opportunity supports the development of skills aligned with the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) Career Readiness Competencies. Through this role, students will strengthen the following competencies: Communication: Students build communication skills by practicing clear, respectful, and professional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication in a workplace setting. Critical Thinking: Students build critical thinking skills by applying judgment, solving problems, prioritizing tasks, maintaining accuracy, and using feedback to improve their work. Teamwork: Students build teamwork skills by collaborating with supervisors, staff, and peers to support department goals, assist others, and contribute to a positive work environment. Technology: Students build technology skills by using department systems, software, digital tools, equipment, or university platforms to complete tasks accurately and efficiently.

Requirements

  • Must be a student at Saint Xavier University
  • Must be Federal Work Study Eligible
  • Must include a resume and cover letter
  • Ability to work in a team setting as well as independently.
  • Able to identify, diagnose, and resolve problems in a range of production environments and communicate the problem and suggest a resolution.
  • Passion for photo/video content creation.
  • Must be able to communicate professionally.

Nice To Haves

  • A basic understanding of production concepts and software is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing and setting up equipment for shoots
  • Operate production equipment when assigned
  • Aid in monitoring shoot schedules and shot lists
  • Transfer and log files
  • Archive files at the completion of projects
  • Help maintain and organize equipment
  • Other production duties as assigned
