About The Position

Sandvik Mining is seeking a Production Assembler - Heavy Equipment for their Winnipeg ITH (In-the hole) Center of Excellence, which is the Global OEM Manufacturer of Underground ITH Drills and Support units. This role is ideal for entry-level mechanics or individuals who are hands-on and mechanically inclined and wish to gain experience in heavy equipment manufacturing. The Production Assembler will support and manufacture OEM equipment units for the global market by working with mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components. This role offers a practical entry point into a Global OEM Manufacturing role, providing opportunities to develop hands-on skills, learn from experienced tradespeople and Engineers, and grow a technical career over time.

Requirements

  • Willingness to learn equipment manufacturing, schematics, blueprints, and drawings.
  • Knowledge of basic hand tools, fasteners, and fittings.
  • Ability to work as part of an integrated, broad team.

Nice To Haves

  • Forklift and overhead crane experience considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Assembly/sub-assembly work of a machine: modules, electrics, hydraulics, cabin, etc.
  • Visual inspection of the quality and validity of the delivered materials for the work.
  • Use hand and power tools to assemble or repair parts and products.
  • Interpret technical documents, such as diagrams, schematics, blueprints, or other verbal or written instructions.
  • Identify any defective items and handle them according to established procedures.
  • Work to standard operating procedures, manufacturing information, and instruction from management or engineering.
  • Assist with on-the-job training and continuous improvement of processes and procedures.
  • Complies with Sandvik Mining safety policies and applicable government, customer or industry regulations or requirements.
  • Responsibility to identify and report any unsafe work habits, workplace incidents and/or near misses.
  • Maintains hand tools and equipment to ensure safe operation.
  • Maintains orderly work area and ensures housekeeping requirements are met.
  • Attend Environmental, Health and Safety related trainings.
  • Wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE) assigned for each task.
