About The Position

The Production and Inventory Control Manager ensures customer orders are shipped on time with good quality and accurate counts, working within the standard cost structure to meet or exceed budget requirements. This role is responsible for maintaining the good condition of materials in storage and ensuring the accuracy of inventory in Shop Edge. The position requires reporting quality, production, or safety problems to the responsible Manager, being present during normal business hours, and working additional hours or from home as needed. Key responsibilities include releasing and ensuring delivery of processor parts, verifying weights, managing inventory transactions in Shop Edge, monitoring returnable containers, and scheduling deliveries of disposable containers and other supplies. The role also involves assisting in a full material control system, working with materials coordinators, and supporting total inventory control. The manager is responsible for the organization and maintenance of RM, WIP, FG inventory, and purchased parts, and will assist in verifying inventory adjustments, cycle counts, and designations. Additionally, the role supports IATF 16949 implementation and maintenance, focuses on cost reduction while maintaining quality, and finds/implements cost savings. The position involves assisting and supervising monthly and yearly inventories, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills, ensuring shipping/operator instructions are updated and followed, and requiring proficiency in Shop Edge. Adjusting schedules to meet demand and budget, overseeing the health and safety of personnel, implementing labor policies, ensuring quality parts are shipped, establishing goals with team members, implementing training programs, developing cross-training, reviewing employee evaluations, monitoring and training new hires, and performing subordinates' jobs in their absence are also key functions. Daily review of work center and shipping schedules, escalating hot list items and end-of-day unshipped items, controlling expedited freight, researching and monitoring customer complaints, and developing schedules for shipments are critical. The role also involves developing work instructions for containers, labels, and safety related to warehouse storage, supporting ISO standards, and controlling returnable containers (ordering, min/max, cleanliness, labels, condition). Assisting the Materials Group as needed, listening to employee problems, following up on suggestions, praising employees, and stressing teamwork are also part of the role. Self-management includes maintaining a positive attitude and seeking improvement opportunities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in same or similar manufacturing environment.
  • Basic computer skills with MS Office, Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Organizational skills necessary to maintain company records in compliance with the Materials/Distribution and Shipping/Receiving Departments and TS 16949 procedures.
  • Ability to work a schedule that allows completion of the job on a daily basis.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership qualities.
  • Demonstrate a “hands on” approach.
  • Must know or have a strong working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language (English).
  • Demonstrated basic computer skills Outlook, Excel, Word.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree in related field preferred.
  • For the Mexico division, English language skills are preferred, not required.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure customer orders are shipped on time with good quality and accurate counts.

  • Work with materials team as necessary to verify inventory adjustments, cycle counts, designate and assist.
  • Assist in IATF 16949 implementation and maintenance, as required.
  • Maintain a solid focus on reducing costs while maintaining required quality levels.
  • Find and implement cost savings.
  • Assist and Supervise in completing monthly and yearly inventories.
  • Ensure shipping/operator instructions are updated and followed.
  • Adjust schedule as required to meet demand and maintain budget.
  • Oversee and implement labor policies (attendance, discipline and hourly workforce tracking).
  • Ensure quality parts are shipped to customer requirements.
  • Mutually establish goals and objectives with team members.
  • Implement and monitor training programs.
  • Develop cross training programs.
  • Review and evaluate all employee evaluations.
  • Monitor, record and train new hire baseline.
  • Perform subordinates’ jobs in their absence in the event that we have no option to cover upwards.
  • Review work center schedules and shipping schedules daily.
  • Escalate any hot list items that are not being received in timely manner.
  • Report any unshipped item at the end of the day via escalation.
  • Control and monitor all expedited freight.
  • Research, monitor, and discipline customer complaints.
  • Develop schedules – in and out going shipments, maximize windows.
  • Assist and develop work instructions on all containers, labels and safety/stacking related to warehouse storage plan.
  • Support ISO standards.
  • Control all returnable containers, ordering to maintain min/max, cleanliness, labels and condition of containers.
  • Assist Materials Group as needed.
  • Listen to each employee’s problems and make sure to follow up on their suggestions.
  • Praise the employee for a job well done.
