About The Position

Gates is seeking a Product Technician for their Global Mobility group in Englewood. This role is responsible for product inspection and validation tasks, including receiving samples, performing lab activities, and using measurement devices to advance products through the development process. The technician will work with state-of-the-art measurement devices and systems to achieve optimal results.

Requirements

  • 1-3+ years of lab, R&D, or prototype environment experience.
  • Familiarity with proper lab safety and housekeeping practices.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
  • Experience working with and following engineering (inspection and test) procedures.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.
  • Knowledge of shop tools and inspection techniques.
  • Familiarity with computer tools like spreadsheets and slide presentations.
  • Ability to read and understand CAD models and technical drawings.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Technical aptitude for engineering products and equipment.
  • Flexible to the priorities of the business.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Solution oriented.
  • Self-motivated, Self-directed, and driven to complete projects quickly and efficiently.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or higher is preferred.
  • Experience with metrology equipment (CMM, gages, laser scanners, etc.) is a plus.
  • Experience with measurement systems analysis and quality techniques are a plus.
  • A preference to hands on work style.
  • Passion for bikes, motorcycles or other two-wheel mobility preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect prototypes and production samples according to project schedules.
  • Utilize the latest technology for accurate measurements, including hand tools and optical measuring systems.
  • Provide inspection feedback to the Design Engineering team.
  • Organize and store all reports in the deliverables database.
  • Manage the First Article Inspection (FAI) process and inspection equipment.
  • Review the design validation process and identify required samples for testing.
  • Prioritize and request tests using the Sample Manager system.
  • Organize sample labeling and shipping to test facilities.
  • Maintain accurate records of test results, materials, and procedures.
  • Conduct detailed reviews of tested samples to ensure alignment with reported test results.
  • Perform some on-site testing.
  • Perform equipment setup, calibration, and routine maintenance.
  • Manage sample organization and inventory.
  • Perform general assembly of components as needed.
