About The Position

This leadership role plays a critical part in enabling the growth and long-term success of Momentive’s businesses across the Americas. As leader of Product Stewardship regionally within the Americas, you will lead a high-performing team responsible for ensuring compliance, advancing product registrations, and supporting innovative product development in a dynamic regulatory landscape. You will oversee a team of product stewardship professionals and contractors, driving strategies that ensure safe, compliant, and market-ready products across diverse applications. In this role, you will partner closely with commercial, R&D, and global teams to align regulatory strategies with business objectives helping bring new products to market efficiently while mitigating risk. A key aspect of the role includes leading risk reviews, shaping product registration strategies, and proactively monitoring evolving legislation and regulatory trends across the region. You will serve as a trusted advisor to business leaders, translating regulatory changes into actionable insights that unlock growth opportunities while ensuring compliance. Additionally, you will play an important role in building organizational capability by delivering training, guiding cross-functional teams, and contributing to global product stewardship initiatives. Your leadership will ensure the right expertise and resources are in place to support product launches, customer needs, and ongoing business expansion. Requirements

  • 10+ years experience in chemical product safety/risk management, product stewardship, regulatory compliance, or another applicable discipline with 3+ years experience in the chemical industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field: chemistry, biology, toxicology, engineering, or related field.
  • Basic chemistry skills related to product chemistry.
  • Results-driven leader with a proven ability to execute and drive outcomes
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work, lead, and manage across functions in a global organization with a matrix reporting structure.
  • Demonstrated leader, creative problem solver, and able to learn relevant skills quickly.
  • Strong working knowledge of product regulatory legislation and regulation in the US, Canada, and South America, including TSCA.
  • Proven organizational and project management skills.
  • Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and delegate as appropriate.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Computer literate in standard office systems.
  • Available for early morning or late evening global calls as needed
  • Able to travel, including internationally, up to 10%

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for talent development and performance management of a team of five Product Stewardship professionals plus contractors for the Americas region, including recruiting, training, retention, and succession planning to support a sustainable organization.
  • Implements product stewardship processes to meet regional needs.
  • Ensure robust, efficient, and continuously improving regional Product Stewardship performance, aligned with global goals, procedures, standards, and policies.
  • Oversees product registrations in the Americas, including TSCA and the other US, Canada, and South American registrations, ensuring alignment with other PS teams, customer interface, new product development, and risk assessments.
  • Manages workload and project execution by ensuring team members are available and assigned to support projects, deliverables are met accurately and on time, and ongoing support and maintenance plans have been established.
  • Partners with businesses and other functions to forecast and plan for changes in workload where possible.
  • Serves as the key point of contact for the Americas Product Stewardship team and is a managerial interface with internal and external customers, businesses, and other functions on product regulatory topics.
  • Handles issue escalation and conflict situations.
  • Develops and manages annual budget.
  • Manages contractors and vendors within budget.
  • Monitors performance metrics to ensure progress toward goals and accomplishment of work are assessed and communicated.
  • Actively leads, participates, and supports Risk Reviews and Application Reviews (as needed) and implements Product Stewardship Standards to comply with Responsible Care requirements.
  • Performs forward-looking regulatory and compliance activities and training.
  • Participates as a member of applicable New Product Introduction Teams, and extended business teams.
  • Supports team in developing & communicating strategic approaches to new product development and registrations.
  • Conducts product registrations as required.
  • Monitor renewal periods and ensure annual fees are paid.
  • Monitors and communicates current and potential legislative changes and implications and initiates necessary actions related to changing chemical regulations in various world regions, (including Hazard Communication legislation and regulation).
  • Actively involved in implementing solutions to address these changes as well as participating and contributing to advocacy efforts where appropriate.
  • Interface with relevant authorities, industry associations, and institutes on regulatory matters.
  • Ensures applicable regional regulatory changes are communicated to the global Product Stewardship team, businesses, and other stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Provides strategic guidance on compliance and future growth plans to businesses based on the regulatory landscape
  • Ensure that effective compliance policies and procedures are developed and maintained.
  • Lead or participate in projects assigned to meet business needs, as applicable.
  • Review and approve Site Management of Change (MOC) for Product Safety.
  • Provide support for Logistics, order blocks, Audits, Substance Volume Tracking, and GHS labels as required.
  • Establish a robust development plan and development goals and track progress quarterly.
  • Develop Subject Matter Expertise (SME) on focused topics.
  • Mentors' others through continuous coaching, feedback, recognition, and encouragement.
