About The Position

This position serves as the overall subject matter expert for Thermoformer and Traysealer product lines. It is responsible for providing technical expertise, developing product line strategies, conducting market research, and guiding the business on the financial performance of the product(s). The role involves conducting market research and analysis, assessing product success against plan, coordinating with sales, sales administration, engineering, and manufacturing on product changes, and leading projects to achieve sales and marketing objectives. The Product Market Manager will coordinate an annual business planning process and monitor sales and profitability of the product lines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, marketing, business administration or related field and seven years of experience in capital equipment or related consumables sales, marketing, product management, or related technical field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively convey information in written form to a broad audience.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of organization.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and Power Point.
  • Working knowledge of SAP CRM preferred.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Current valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to obtain a passport for travel as required by position.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Multivac’s main point of technical reference regarding Thermoformers, Traysealers, and related equipment.
  • Proactively research product line dynamics (competition, pricing, regulations, customer needs, business trends, etc.) and develop detailed knowledge to drive short and long-term strategies.
  • Assist in developing short and long-term strategies for assigned product lines and create an annual marketing plan.
  • Assist with developing product line budgets that align with the annual marketing plan.
  • Monitor sales and profitability of product lines relative to the annual budget through SAP/CRM and P&L review, and drive necessary adjustments to achieve goals.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve issues on complicated, first-time product line applications and new product capabilities.
  • Partner with global headquarters to resolve issues, share market intelligence, and champion improvements/innovation for the Canadian market.
  • Create new product launch plans including technical specs, training guidelines, sales communication, and selling materials.
  • Assist with developing promotional activities for product line annual marketing plans, including target market campaigns, trade shows, advertising, new product introductions, brochures, data sheets, and training materials.
  • Develop and execute tools and programs to assist sales in effectively selling product lines, reaching new customers, and differentiating from competition.
  • Train Sales staff on product line information required for effective consultative selling.
  • Partner with Sales Professionals to assess production facilities, uncover customer needs, and develop optimized packaging solutions.
  • Analyze and recommend appropriate market pricing, and help coordinate the stock machine program.
  • Engage in trade show planning and execution related to assigned product lines and participate in shows when appropriate.
  • Write technical communications (articles, white papers, etc.) as part of a global marketing communication and PR plan.
  • Maintain accuracy of communication materials (brochures, website, etc.) and initiate updates as needed.
  • Travel as needed for customer visits, industry events, and meetings with industry professionals.
  • Develop close working relationships and collaboration across the organization, both domestic and international, with key functional groups.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to ensure product line compliance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Manage business expenses with a focus on cost containment and submit expense reports in a timely manner.
