About The Position

The Decking Specialist is a customer service representative sales role with sales and marketing related product responsibility. The primary responsibility of this role is to profitably generate new business for Weyerhaeuser Distribution through increasing attachment of TREX Railing and Trim products in Northern California. This role is customer-facing and supports several aspects of the customer / vendor relationship, including product knowledge training, troubleshooting dealer issues with products, samples/literature support, following up on sales trends, and program discussions/ presentations to maintain and grow business with new and existing customers. This is not a remote role. Candidate can be based in either Redding, CA or Stockton, CA reporting to the Sales Manager and/or Area General Manager.

Requirements

Minimum HS Diploma/GED
3+ yrs purchasing and/or sales experience in building materials distribution, with a solid level of expertise in relevant products.
Highly organized, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong communications skills (authentic, adaptive, persuasive) with the ability to collaborate across organizational and functional boundaries.
Possess a solid level of experience in wood products decking product line

Responsibilities

Drives development and execution of local strategies in support of profitable growth for the assigned product/brand in alignment with Distribution and manufacturer goals and expectations.
Utilizes solutions selling and product training with current and prospective customers. Supports dealer stocking and program opportunities and aiding the design process.
Responsible for generating primary (pull-through) new demand by increasing attachment of TREX railing and trim in Northern California. Time required will vary greatly and be dependent on product and market and vendor involvement and expectations. The more support/subsidy by the vendor, the more time will be required to be spent in this capacity.
Acts as key resource and subject matter expert for peers and customers regarding training, trouble-shooting issues, and overall sales and product support.
Markets product(s)/brand – developing promotions, collaborating on branding opportunities, supporting customer samples/literature/display needs.
Understands the geographic market - competitors, customers, and supply chain and logistical market drivers that make the area unique to their product category.
Demonstrates strong relationships with, and a working knowledge of, key product vendor, key customers, and primary demand community.
Understands and articulates financial drivers of retail, wholesale, and construction industry. Demonstrates financial acumen about their product, its cost of service and return on investment.
