About The Position
This is a remote freelance consulting opportunity for experienced Product Safety & Regulatory Compliance Attorneys to contribute legal expertise to AI training and evaluation initiatives. The work covers product safety law, consumer protection, regulatory compliance, and cross-jurisdictional legal frameworks. Consultants will analyse regulations and compliance documentation, assess product-related risks, develop legal scenarios and structured training materials, and evaluate AI-generated regulatory content. The role combines legal research, risk assessment, policy analysis, and content development. Prior AI experience is not required. Work must be completed without using confidential or proprietary information belonging to an employer, client, institution, or other third party. Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree or equivalent legal qualification; product safety, consumer protection, or regulatory compliance focus preferred.
- Significant professional experience advising on product safety laws, regulatory compliance, or consumer protection matters.
- Strong understanding of US federal and state product safety requirements and relevant international regulatory frameworks.
- Familiarity with CPSC regulations, applicable FDA requirements, European Union product safety legislation, and related compliance standards.
- Demonstrated experience interpreting complex regulatory provisions and assessing their implications for commercial products.
- Practical expertise drafting, reviewing, or advising on compliance policies, regulatory documentation, technical materials, or legal opinions.
- Experience evaluating product safety risks, regulatory obligations, and compliance strategies.
- Ability to identify legal and procedural gaps in regulatory frameworks, policies, and compliance documentation.
- Strong legal research, analytical reasoning, critical-thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex legal requirements clearly.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accurate, well-structured legal and regulatory content.
- Familiarity with cross-jurisdictional regulatory analysis and international product compliance considerations.

Responsibilities
- Analyse product safety laws, regulations, and technical standards across US federal, state, and international jurisdictions.
- Interpret regulatory requirements governing consumer products, product safety obligations, and market compliance, including frameworks administered by the CPSC and FDA and relevant European Union and international requirements.
- Review, draft, edit, and evaluate legal documents related to product safety, consumer protection, and regulatory compliance.
- Assess compliance policies, technical documentation, regulatory assessments, and legal opinions for accuracy, completeness, and consistency with applicable laws and standards.
- Develop realistic legal documents, questions, case studies, and scenario-based materials reflecting product compliance and regulatory advisory practice.
- Evaluate product safety scenarios, compliance strategies, regulatory obligations, deficiencies, and potential legal exposure; identify gaps and recommend legally grounded improvements and mitigation measures.
- Review and validate AI-generated legal analyses, regulatory explanations, and compliance responses; identify inaccurate interpretations, incomplete reasoning, and jurisdictional or regulatory imprecision.
- Translate complex product safety requirements into clear, structured materials for specialised AI training and evaluation, and contribute to training datasets and evaluation criteria.
- Conduct structured legal research and produce legal analyses, compliance assessments, research summaries, and detailed evaluation feedback.
- Communicate complex regulatory requirements to legal, technical, and non-technical audiences and collaborate remotely with project stakeholders.
- Support consistent quality standards, accurate legal interpretation, and continuous improvement of project deliverables.
