About The Position

Applied Materials is seeking a new college graduate to support the design, evaluation, and compliance of products with company, customer, and regulatory safety requirements. Working with multifunctional teams and under the mentorship of senior engineers and subject matter experts, the engineer assesses new technologies and their potential interactions with other systems using structured risk-assessment methods, and helps drive corrective actions to reduce risks to employees, customers and facilities, and the environment. The role supports product and system safety analyses for components, subsystems, and complete systems; evaluates compliance with company requirements, industry guidelines, standards, and government regulations; contributes safety input to design reviews; and reviews engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications for potential hazards and non-conformances. The engineer also assists with investigations, corrective and preventive actions, assessment follow-up, documentation, audits, certifications, and customer safety reviews. The position offers an entry point into Applied Materials' Product Safety discipline. With experience, the engineer can take on greater independence leading FMEA and PHA sessions, become a subject matter expert for assigned product lines, manage complex safety programs, represent the company in industry standards forums, and lead investigations into product safety events with global impact. The position is based in Gloucester, Massachusetts, and is eligible for relocation. Domestic and international travel to customer and manufacturing sites may be needed.
