About The Position

Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for an Associate or Experienced Product Repair/Modification Technician to join our dynamic team in Kennedy Space Center, Florida. Experimental Service Group (ESG) supports a variety of government customers spanning technology domains and is a fast-paced, responsive development environment delivering new capabilities to customers rapidly and affordably. The ESG portfolio consists of a range of platforms and technologies that includes the X-37B Orbital Test Vehicle (OTV). The X-37B OTV is the United States’ most advanced, state-of-the-art reentry space craft. Requirements

More than 1 year of experience reading and interpreting aerospace engineering drawings and blueprints
More than 1 year of experience in aerospace production and maintenance
Ability to lift/carry up to 35 pounds; push/pull using up to 45 pounds of force; and reach overhead up to six hours per day
Willing to work variable shifts, including weekends and overtime
Ability to pass an annual propellant and Self Contained Atmospheric Protective Ensemble ( SCAPE ) physical and training for both category I and IV SCAPE operations
Must be a U.S. Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 (U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee) to meet U.S. export control compliance requirements.
Requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.
A final U.S. Top Secret Clearance Pre-Start is required.

Nice To Haves

Minimum of High School Diploma or GED
Associate Level B: More than 1 year of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Experienced Level C: More than 3 years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
More than 1 year of experience with hardware integration for spacecraft, missile or aircraft systems
More than 1 year of experience working with various material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks and cranes
Experience with spacecraft hardware integration
Successful completion of a Tier 5 Investigation (T5), formerly known as a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) by the federal government within the last 5 years, or have been enrolled in a Continuous Vetting program within the last 5 years

Responsibilities

Performs assigned duties as an individual or as a member of a cross-functional High-Performance Work Team
Operates computing equipment to access job information (e.g., drawings, specifications and other online information systems)
Uses various types of power tools, hand tools, and torque tools
Performs all elements of mechanical or electrical assembly from detailed work instructions, including reworks and repairs
Assists in maintaining, repairs, and modification of aircraft electrical components of moderate difficulty (Associate Level B)
Maintains, repairs, and modifies aircraft electrical components of moderate difficulty (Experienced Level C)
Possess general shop skills including Foreign Object and Debris (FOD) prevention, material handling, safety, calibration requirements, ESD, and contamination control of precision clean systems
Assists with routine troubleshooting of pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical systems to isolate mechanical or electrical faults (Associate Level B)
Performs routine troubleshooting of pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical systems to isolate mechanical or electrical faults (Experienced Level C)
Assists with validation/verification testing of systems and components (Associate Level B)
Performs validation/verification testing of systems and components (Experienced Level C)
Fabricates and modifies aerospace products according to specifications
Performs tasks associated with the safe handling of an aerospace vehicle (e.g. jacking, towing, system operations)
Performs operations utilizing Self-Contained Atmospheric Protective Ensemble (SCAPE) personal protective equipment (PPE)
