About The Position

Divergent is seeking a Product Reliability Engineer to help ensure the quality and reliability of products and processes in high-precision manufacturing. The role leads quality control initiatives, continuous improvement, and efforts to meet customer and industry expectations. It works across teams and with customers to improve production processes, optimize inspections, manage quality deliverables and corrective actions, and support new product introductions and process validation. The position is onsite and may be evaluated at Engineer I / E03 or Engineer II / E04 level.

Requirements

• Ability to lawfully access information and technology subject to U.S. export controls.
• Demonstrated experience in manufacturing quality initiatives focused on process improvement, defect reduction, and inspection optimization.
• Proficiency implementing and managing PPAP, FMEA, and root cause analysis (RCA) to resolve quality issues and improve processes.
• Knowledge of advanced inspection methods and tools, including CMM programming, Gage R&R, and sampling techniques.
• Strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and use data-informed decisions to improve yield and reduce defects.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, customers, and suppliers to meet quality standards and customer expectations.
• Clear communication and documentation skills to present quality metrics, deliverables, and insights to stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or related field), or equivalent experience in a quality-focused role.
• Experience in regulated industries such as automotive, aerospace, or defense, with familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, or IATF 16949.
• Hands-on experience with PPAP documentation and customer engagement for quality deliverables.
• Experience with statistical process control (SPC) and process capability analysis (Cpk).
• Six Sigma Green Belt or higher certification, or ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) certification.
• Familiarity with advanced manufacturing technologies such as additive manufacturing or automated inspection systems.

Responsibilities

• Analyze quality and production data to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities to improve process efficiency and reduce defects.
• Implement process controls and standardize inspection procedures to improve consistency, prevent recurring issues, and increase first-pass yield.
• Optimize inspection strategies using advanced tools and techniques, including CMM programming.
• Establish and maintain inspection criteria and acceptance standards aligned with customer requirements and industry best practices.
• Evaluate inspection method capability using studies such as Gage R&R and Cpk analyses.
• Serve as a quality liaison for customers, manage audits, address quality concerns, and ensure timely issue resolution.
• Prepare and deliver quality documentation, including PPAP, FAIR, and customer-specific deliverables, and facilitate customer reviews and audits.
• Collaborate with customers to clarify quality requirements and align on deliverables and expectations.
• Manage nonconformance activities, including root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, and Material Review Board (MRB) processes.
• Track and analyze nonconformance trends to drive targeted improvements and reduce recurring defects.
• Monitor KPIs such as yield, defect rates, and on-time delivery; develop dashboards and reports that share quality performance and actionable insights.
• Develop and implement scalable quality control plans and deploy inspection technologies aligned with company and customer objectives.
• Support process validation for new or modified manufacturing processes to ensure readiness and compliance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate quality requirements into product and process development and support new product introductions.
• Mentor quality team members on inspection, data analysis, and process control, and drive cross-functional problem-solving initiatives.
• Perform other support functions as directed by Quality Management.
