The product packaging is responsible for preparing, inspecting, and packaging finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and are ready for shipment. Duties include cleaning and de-burring materials, assembling shipping containers, labeling products, and maintaining accurate documentation. The position also involves safely operating equipment such as forklifts, cranes, and hand tools while maintaining an organized and efficient work environment. Candidates should be committed to quality, safety, teamwork, and following established procedures, with flexibility to work overtime as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to read and accurately interpret a tape measure and basic work instructions
  • Proficiency in using basic hand tools
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to perform final inspections and identify defects
  • Ability to follow established procedures, safety standards, and quality guidelines
  • Basic math and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to lift, move, and handle materials safely and work on your feet for extended periods
  • Strong organizational skills to maintain accurate documentation and a clean work area
  • Effective teamwork and communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating forklifts, cranes, and pallet jacks
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing or production environment
  • Familiarity with packaging processes, material handling, and shipping preparation
  • Willingness to cross-train and support team members across functions
  • Experience with quality systems or inspection documentation
  • Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with a variety of materials (wood, cardboard, etc.)
  • Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on efficiency and quality
  • Flexibility to work overtime or adjust schedules to meet production needs

Responsibilities

  • Clean, de-bur and package material for shipping utilizing appropriate processes
  • Final inspection on finished product; reject damaged product or materials
  • Assemble wood, cardboard, or other specified materials - containers, skids, and other shipping support materials including picking preassembled containers - as specified, or required for the product and order
  • Cut materials using a pre-determined BOM to include creation of BOM
  • Use package construction databases to generate cut list and container sizes when required
  • Maintain proper and accurate paperwork including completion of inspection documentation
  • Label or mark material with appropriate information prior to packaging
  • Follow documented departmental procedures of the Wagstaff Quality System
  • Unload material while safely utilizing forklifts, cranes and pallet jacks
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure efficiency and productivity
  • Maintain a high degree of quality
  • Perform safe operations of mechanical and hand tools
  • Abide by company policies
  • Work weeks in excess of 40 hours may be required
  • Willingness to cross train or train other co-workers
  • Other duties as assigned
