About The Position

The Boeing Company is seeking a Product Owner (experienced or senior) to support their Mission System Software team located in Berkeley, MO. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security and BDS business organization. The role involves acting as a product owner and leading software teams, mentoring engineers, defining team roadmaps, and leading software team execution for safety-critical and/or mission-critical flight software. The primary focus is leading a team from planning and work breakdown to execution and testing, including backlog management, user story definition, goal communication, planning event participation, and sign-off on accepted work. Candidates will leverage agile experience to define, prioritize, and lead software development in areas such as tactical software, weapons engagement, and mission processing software. The teams are hiring for a broad range of experience levels, including Experienced and/or Senior Product Owners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship
  • Ability to obtain access to Special Access Programs (SAP)
  • 2 or more years Product owner or software leadership experience

Nice To Haves

  • 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience debugging and troubleshooting technical problems involving computer memory or timing considerations
  • Experience or familiarity with industry tools or development techniques such as the following; Embedded System Software, C, C++, Rust, Linux, VxWorks, Containers, Git, CI/CD DevSecOps, and/or Cameo
  • Experience in systems integration with systems engineering processes and procedures
  • Strong verbal and written skills, teaming skills, technical skills, and integration skills

Responsibilities

  • Designs, develops, tests, debugs and maintains software that is integrated into embedded devices and systems and meets industry, customer, safety and regulation standards
  • Reviews, analyzes, and translates customer requirements into the design of software products for embedded devices and systems
  • Builds and writes code for embedded systems software to run on specific specialized hardware
  • Integrates embedded software with hardware components
  • Analyzes, monitors and improves the efficiency and stability of embedded software systems
  • Tests and debugs software for embedded devices and systems
  • Implements current and emerging technologies, tools, frameworks, and changes in regulations relevant to software development and hardware technologies
  • Advises on software and hardware integration domains
  • Tracks and evaluates internal and supplier software team performance to ensure product and process compliance to project plans and industry standards
  • Performs embedded software project management functions
  • Managing the backlog of work
  • Defining user stories
  • Communicating clear goals
  • Participating in and leading planning events
  • Signing off on accepted work
