About The Position

Medical Mutual is seeking a Product Owner to define, prioritize, and deliver AI-powered products and capabilities that create measurable business, operational, and customer value. This role serves as the product owner for conversational AI and emerging AI solutions, partnering with business stakeholders, technology teams, and strategic vendors to define vision, identify and manage AI use cases, translate needs into actionable work, and ensure successful delivery, adoption, governance, and value realization across the organization. This is a hybrid position located in Brooklyn, OH, with a three-day per week onsite requirement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, IT, Analytics, or related field. Equivalent education and experience directly related to the role may substitute for a degree.
  • 1 – 2 years experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager, or equivalent progressive experience, preferably within the health insurance industry.
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment, working with cross functional teams.
  • Ability to synthesize complex information and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Understanding of various product management practices, user story creation, backlog management, and prioritization.
  • Knowledge of project management and process improvement methodologies, including Agile and Scrum.
  • Knowledge of health insurance operations.
  • Good communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and effectively. Including proficiency with PowerPoint and Word.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with various levels of the organization.
  • Maintains a strong outcomes-oriented mindset, ensuring product efforts drive measurable business value.
  • 3 years experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager, or equivalent progressive experience, preferably within the health insurance industry.
  • Demonstrated experience working in an Agile development environment, working with cross functional teams.
  • Demonstrated experience working with and influencing stakeholders to understand business goals and make conscientious decisions in alignment with strategy.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with the ability to synthesize complex information and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Understanding of various product management practices, user story creation, backlog management, and prioritization.
  • Knowledge of project management and process improvement methods (Agile, Scrum).
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and effectively.

  • 5 years experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager, or equivalent progressive experience, preferably within the health insurance industry
  • 3 years experience influencing cross-functional teams and managing stakeholders, including senior project leadership and vendor partners.
  • Agile experience in cross-functional team environments.
  • Proven expertise working with and influencing stakeholders to understand business goals and make conscientious decisions in alignment with strategy.
  • Deep understanding of various product management practices, user story creation, backlog management, and prioritization.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills; ability to convey complex ideas clearly.
  • 7 years of Product Owner, Product Manager, or related experience, including leading cross-functional teams, influencing stakeholders, and partnering with senior leaders and vendors, preferably in the health insurance industry.
  • Demonstrated experience working in Agile environments and leading cross-functional teams.
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders, align business goals with strategy, and drive informed decision-making.
  • Strong knowledge of product management, user story development, backlog management, and prioritization.
  • Strong knowledge of project management and process improvement methodologies, including Agile and Scrum.
  • Ability to work with limited guidance and collaboratively with various areas of the organization.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills, with proficiency in PowerPoint and Word.
  • Ability to collaborate across all organizational levels and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Strong outcomes orientation and focus on delivering measurable business value.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the maintenance of product roadmaps and backlogs based on measurable value, strategic alignment, dependencies, and effort.
  • Supports collaboration with leadership, stakeholders, and technology partners to define and continuously refine the product vision and roadmap.
  • Ensures alignment between business goals, user needs, operational priorities, and enterprise strategy.
  • Acts as a liaison between business and technical teams.
  • Collaborates with business partners to gather, refine, and validate business goals, ensuring alignment across multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Translates these objectives into well-structured product goals and user stories with clearly defined requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Actively participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, sprint demos, and more.
  • Supports project team, project management office, change management, and technical delivery teams to establish and coordinate timelines and support user readiness, ensuring timely achievement of goals and effective organizational adoption.
  • Reports on performance metrics, customer feedback, operational performance, and business value realization.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
