About The Position

Genesis10 is seeking a Product Owner to drive the strategy, design, and delivery of an enterprise security automation and orchestration program. This position is within the Global Information Security (GIS) group, focusing on prioritizing work to continuously improve incident response plans, managing the SOAR product backlog, and ensuring automation aligns with business and security objectives. The role requires working with developers to design and implement investigation playbooks, develop automation feasibility scores, recommend workflow enhancements, and demo working solutions to stakeholders. The Product Owner will serve as support to the technology manager and scrum team, managing work requests and collaborating with cross-functional teams to define, prioritize, and communicate the product vision, strategy, and roadmap. They will own and maintain the product backlog, identify high-value automation opportunities, and translate business requirements into actionable user stories. The role involves acting as a liaison between product management, technology lead, and the development team, gathering feedback, and making informed decisions on scope and priorities. Responsibilities also include leading sprint planning, backlog refinement, and sprint review sessions, providing guidance to the development team, monitoring project progress, and participating in retrospectives. Staying current with industry trends and managing stakeholder expectations are also key aspects of this role.

Requirements

  • 8-10+ years of experience as a Software Product Owner supporting a software development environment
  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience preferred
  • Experience managing agile product backlogs using Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar
  • Working knowledge of security platforms (ex. CrowdStrike, Tanium, Splunk, ThreatQ, AWS, Okta, Cloudflare)
  • Experience with cloud-native automation architectures (AWS Lambda, Step Functions)
  • Familiarity with service management tools (ServiceNow and/or Jira Service Management)
  • Background in security operations, incident response, or threat detection
  • Expert with translating high-level business requirements into clear and actionable user stories, ensuring that they contain well-defined acceptance criteria
  • Must have expert ability to document detailed requirements, minutes, action items, manage incoming requests and outgoing communications
  • Expert ability to track, manage and resolve dependencies, blockers, issues, risks, clearly document and articulate action item owners and open items in need of attention
  • Strong organization and facilitation skills, including the ability to prioritize work and drive out deadlines
  • Must work well with internal and external team members, have ability to manage and resolve conflicts collaboratively and with patience
  • Strong analytical skills and drive to take initiative, be proactive to collect details needed to address blockers, drive out issues for the team
  • Detail-oriented self-starter with ability to deliver high-quality software products and exceptional user experiences
  • Advanced experience in JIRA, Confluence, Release Management Tool
  • Experience building dashboards and filtering/lookups in Jira
  • Excellent written oral/communication and presentation skills
  • Hands-on experience with managing large scale agile, technical projects and executive communications
  • Able to work independently with limited supervision
  • Experience working in Agile development process, Agile methodologies, and deep understanding of various phases of Software Development Life Cycle

Nice To Haves

  • Certification(s) related to Agile methodologies (e.g., Certified Scrum Product Owner) is a plus
  • Previous experience in cyber security, specifically vulnerability management or application security testing is advantageous
  • Experience with Jira, .NET and python development is a strong asset
  • Experience writing detailed technical requirements

Responsibilities

  • Work with developers to design and implement end-to-end investigation playbooks in Cortex XSOAR, Splunk SOAR, Tines, or equivalent platforms
  • Work with developers to develop automation feasibility scores to assess ROI for alert types and workflows
  • Work with developers to recommend and implement workflow enhancements to improve investigation accuracy and response time
  • Demo working playbooks and automations to stakeholders and leadership
  • Serve as the support to technology manager and scrum team to manage work requests from product management and business stakeholders
  • Manage sign offs for automation value through demos, documentation, and training
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product management, software developers, designers, quality assurance, and stakeholders to define, prioritize, and communicate product vision, strategy, and roadmap
  • Own and maintain the product backlog, ensuring that it is well-organized, up-to-date, and aligned with the overall product vision and business goals
  • Partner with technology manager to identify high-value automation opportunities for SOC, Cloud Security, and Engineering teams
  • Collaborate with engineers and analysts to align sprint goals with the automation roadmap
  • Translate high-level business requirements into clear and actionable user stories, ensuring that they contain well-defined acceptance criteria and align with technical capabilities
  • Act as the primary point of contact between product management, technology lead and development team, ensuring that communication flows seamlessly and that stakeholder needs are effectively addressed
  • Regularly engage with product management, stakeholders, developers and QA team to gather feedback, capture user insights, and validate that the product is meeting their expectations
  • With some guidance from technology lead, make informed decisions on scope, backlog priorities, and trade-offs while considering factors such as project timelines, technical constraints, dependencies, and risks
  • Lead sprint planning, backlog refinement, and sprint review sessions, PI planning documentation, Jira input, and collaboration with the development team to ensure a clear understanding of the work to be done
  • Responsible for owning the creation and refinement of stories with the team to ensure there are enough ready stories to load the next 2-3 sprints
  • Provide guidance and support to the development team, clarifying requirements, resolving queries, and ensuring a shared understanding of the user stories
  • Continuously monitor project progress, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and ensure that the product is delivering the intended value to customers
  • Actively participate in retrospectives to identify areas for improvement within the development process and take actions to enhance team efficiency and effectiveness
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices, leveraging this knowledge to identify opportunities for product enhancement and innovation
  • Manage stakeholder expectations, anticipating and addressing concerns, and ensuring a positive collaborative working environment
