About The Position

As a Product Owner (hybrid – Norcross or Omaha), you will join a diverse, passionate team, dedicated to powering the world’s payments ecosystem! The Purpose of the role: Responsible for maximizing the value of the product and work of the Development team. Accountable for managing the Product Backlog, including adding/removing/grooming items and defining their priorities. Communicates vision of the Product Manager to their scrum team and is responsible for prioritizing the product backlog to accomplish that vision. Participates in all Agile activities including backlog grooming, sprint planning and sprint review. Work with the team to groom backlog items: define acceptance criteria, help the team split and estimate stories. Chooses the right balance between feature development and technical (NFR) work to keep the product competitive. Available as needed to assist the scrum team with product questions and is given authority to make decisions about product features.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience in software development tasks.
  • 5+ years of related work experience.
  • Excellent leadership and organizational skills
  • Strong ability to understand technical issues at a high level
  • Demonstrates strong accountability
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to operate as a change agent, influencing and driving action organizationally

Responsibilities

  • Maximizing the value of the product and work of the Development team.
  • Managing the Product Backlog, including adding/removing/grooming items and defining their priorities.
  • Communicating the product vision to their scrum team.
  • Prioritizing the product backlog to accomplish the product vision.
  • Participating in all Agile activities including backlog grooming, sprint planning and sprint review.
  • Grooming backlog items: defining acceptance criteria, helping the team split and estimate stories.
  • Choosing the right balance between feature development and technical (NFR) work to keep the product competitive.
  • Assisting the scrum team with product questions and making decisions about product features.
  • Communicating the product vision to the agile team/s with support from product manager/Sr/Principal PO in the background.
  • Setting priorities effectively, i.e. prioritizing the backlog, and ensuring that the team understands why the stories are in a specific order to maximize the team’s output.
  • Elaborating/publishing user story requirements in a timely fashion.
  • Clarifying user story requirements/answering team questions quickly and concisely.
  • Creating clear, testable acceptance criteria for stories.
  • Participating in scrum team meetings (grooming, planning, review, etc.).
  • Driving the agile team/s to break stories down into smaller stories that comfortably fit in a sprint and have business value.
  • Recommending process and quality improvements.
  • Sharing product expertise with the agile team/s.
  • Engaging internal stakeholders and external contacts as needed to provide direction to the team.
  • Driving maximizing the business value and quality output of the agile teams.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
