Product Manager, Urology Bio-AI Nexus

UCSF•San Francisco, CA
•$118,400 - $185,400

About The Position

The Product Manager, Urology Bio-AI Nexus drives product integration, development coordination, and stakeholder alignment across UCSF’s Nexus platform, a multimodal research and clinical data ecosystem supporting precision urology. The role works at the intersection of data engineering, clinical and translational research, and end users, translating requirements from faculty, clinical research leadership, and other staff into actionable specifications. It coordinates development priorities and timelines and contributes directly to completing and documenting software tools and data products. The position requires technical fluency to extend existing codebases using AI-assisted development tools, without requiring full-stack software architecture expertise. Operating with a high degree of autonomy, the Product Manager identifies gaps between platform capabilities and program needs, maintains a living product roadmap, and helps ensure Nexus tools meet usability, reliability, and documentation standards for clinical research staff, investigators, and institutional partners. The role coordinates product planning, requirements gathering, development support and quality assurance, stakeholder communications, metrics, reporting, and knowledge management. It also serves as a liaison to other UCSF units and departments engaged in related initiatives. The Bio-AI Nexus connects clinical and research resources—including electronic health records, processed clinical reports, digital pathology, radiology imaging, biospecimens, and multi-omic data—to support translational discovery, precision medicine, and AI model development. The Product Manager helps align the program’s technical assets and stakeholders and makes platform capabilities accessible and well documented for the university community.

  • Gather, clarify, and prioritize requirements from clinical research coordinators, faculty, statisticians, and research operations staff; translate user needs into technical specifications.
  • Lead technical discussions with advisory groups and other customers or clients, and identify opportunities for additional product or service value based on their feedback.
  • Conduct structured user testing and beta validation of tools under development.
  • Extend and refine existing software tools and data products using AI-assisted development practices; contribute to code, configuration, documentation, and testing to advance tools toward production readiness.
  • Coordinate with the data architect on handoffs and continuity, and act as a liaison across UCSF units and departments undertaking related initiatives.
  • Define and track key performance indicators for Nexus products and infrastructure, and provide periodic progress reports to program leadership.
