Netflix•Los Angeles, CA
•$440,000 - $725,000

About The Position

Netflix is seeking a Product Manager to lead Content Understanding Foundations. The role defines and drives the vision, strategy, and roadmap for how Netflix uses AI to understand content, including extracting meaning from audiovisual material and building the tools and workflows people use to review, correct, and trust AI-generated output. The work spans content-understanding algorithms and the taxonomy principles that support their development, as well as a unified, scalable platform where experts review AI output and stakeholder teams can understand its quality, coverage, and impact. The Product Manager will move workflows from human-first to AI- and automation-first, with models handling the first pass and people focusing on exceptions and quality while maintaining the accuracy and trust required by members, partners, and regulators. The role will establish measures of quality and impact to guide automation, improvement, and retirement decisions. The Product Manager will also identify new forms of content understanding that could enable member experiences such as search, discovery, and personalization, as well as additional business use cases. They will partner with engineering, applied science, data science, and design, and work with content experts, teams that consume content-understanding signals, and upstream content partners.

  • Experience defining quality and impact measurement for ML-generated output, including evaluation frameworks, quality bars, and actionable metrics.
  • Familiarity with taxonomies, ontologies, or structured metadata and how they shape algorithm development.
  • A strong track record of building collaborative, trust-based relationships with internal stakeholders, engineering teams, and applied science teams.
  • Expertise developing vision, strategy, and roadmaps for a cross-functional space while incorporating broader business context.
  • Experience producing clear, well-crafted documents across the product lifecycle, including strategy memos, PRDs, and stakeholder communications.
