About The Position

Herald is transforming how commercial insurance gets sold by combining modern API infrastructure with industry-specific AI. The company aims to enable faster placement, cleaner operations, and meaningful revenue growth. Herald is seeking individuals to help shape the operating system for modern insurance. The team consists of insurtech veterans with experience at At-Bay, Kin, and Insurify, and has secured Series A funding from prominent VCs and industry leaders.

Requirements

  • 2–3 years of experience in product management or a closely adjacent role (e.g., product engineering, solutions engineering, implementation PM, or technical program management) in a B2B SaaS environment.
  • Habitual, fluent use of AI tools in personal work (drafting communications, investigating problems, synthesizing information, reducing repetitive effort) with well-developed instincts for AI's utility and limitations.
  • Strong instincts for UX and ability to simplify complex processes.
  • Comfort working with engineering teams building AI-powered products, understanding how to design features that build trust in AI outputs, evaluate them, and identify where human oversight is needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with real users, understand operational pain, and translate learnings into crisp product decisions.
  • Strong writing skills for clear communication of product rationale in specs, Slack, and user discussions.
  • Clear communicator and fast executor, moving quickly, documenting, and involving the right people.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in commercial insurance, insuretech, or a closely adjacent vertical, including familiarity with carrier-distribution dynamics and quoting, submission, and binding workflows.
  • Prior experience at a company building workflow automation, document processing, or AI-assisted tools for enterprise users.
  • Experience designing or scoping AI-assisted or agentic workflows, understanding automation value, evaluating AI outputs, and building processes with appropriate human oversight.
  • Familiarity with REST APIs and their role in product features, including reading API documentation and discussing integration design with engineers.
  • Prior startup experience at a company in a similar stage (Series A–C), with knowledge of operating with lean support structures and building process.

Responsibilities

  • Own the Herald placement application, the primary working surface for brokers to manage commercial submissions end-to-end.
  • Translate real broker workflows into product decisions and ship features that reduce manual effort in the insurance placement process.
  • Work directly with users, partner closely with engineering to ship fast, and use AI for personal productivity and identifying automation opportunities.
  • Own carrier work when required to bring new markets or capabilities into the platform, with a primary focus on the broker experience.
  • Utilize AI tools habitually in work and identify where AI and agentic workflows can be layered into the product to reduce coordination overhead, surface information, and allow brokers to focus on judgment-based work.
  • Manage the Placement System, including application intake and form management, market outreach, quote review and comparison, and AI-assisted coordination.
  • Expand agentic capabilities by defining autonomous actions, recommendations, and human oversight.
  • Scope and launch new carrier integrations to unlock new market access.
  • Improve monitoring and self-healing for the integration layer that feeds market data.
