About The Position

Ironflow AI is building an AI-native ERP for aerospace, defense, and advanced manufacturing, aiming to replace outdated software architectures that are now a strategic problem. The company's mission is to help companies build extraordinary things by providing radically better systems for purchasing, inventory, planning, manufacturing, finance, and accounting. Ironflow AI operates on five core values: hard work, excellence, kindness, creativity, and teamwork. The company is founded by veterans, engineers, and operators who have experienced the limitations of legacy systems firsthand and are dedicated to building the software they wish had existed. This Product Manager role is crucial for shaping the experience of running a manufacturing company, focusing on how people and AI collaborate to eliminate complexity and give people back their time. The goal is to put humans back at the center of building things, allowing them to focus more on production and less on system management. The role specifically involves owning the product direction for the finance and accounting core of Ironflow, including general ledger, AP, AR, costing, close, and financial reporting. The Product Manager will work directly with financial professionals and operators to translate real-world workflows into effective product decisions and software solutions, defining the financial backbone of a new ERP for critical industries.

Requirements

  • Clear communication skills, with the ability to distill complex customer conversations into concise problem statements for designers and engineers.
  • Comfortable engaging with customers, including running discovery, leading demos, and handling difficult questions from finance leaders.
  • A bias for shipping, prioritizing getting well-scoped versions to customers for learning and improvement over waiting for perfection.
  • Strong product judgment to differentiate customer requests from underlying problems and make sound product decisions.
  • Ability to quickly learn complex systems, identify key relationships and constraints, and simplify complexity into clear, usable products.
  • Analytical thinking and a first-principles approach to decision-making, using customer evidence, data, and judgment.
  • Attention to detail without losing sight of the larger customer outcome, catching critical edge cases and inconsistencies.
  • Ability to work effectively with engineers, explaining problems, reasoning through tradeoffs, and staying engaged throughout the product lifecycle.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on finance and accounting experience in manufacturing, or experience serving manufacturing clients through audit or advisory.
  • Understanding of manufacturing economics, including inventory valuation, standard and actual costing, BOM and routing roll-ups, purchase price variance, WIP, labor absorption, scrap, rework, and the general ledger.
  • Fluency in core accounting operations such as AP, AR, bank reconciliation, accruals, close, and financial reporting.
  • Experience with government contract accounting, including job costing, indirect rates, DCAA timekeeping, and Cost Accounting Standards.
  • Experience in an early-stage environment where product, process, and team were still being built.
  • Product management or adjacent experience in B2B SaaS, particularly in ERP, accounting, implementation, solutions consulting, or financial operations software.
  • Experience implementing, administering, or replacing systems like NetSuite, Epicor, SAP Business One, Dynamics, or Acumatica.

Responsibilities

  • Own the finance and accounting roadmap, setting priorities and building core capabilities for today while identifying future AI-native experiences.
  • Use customer, market, and competitive insights to refine the roadmap and design workflows where people and AI agents collaborate to eliminate manual work and improve decision-making.
  • Work directly with controllers, accountants, CFOs, and operators to understand workflows, identify gaps filled by spreadsheets, and pinpoint areas of trust breakdown.
  • Translate customer conversations into clear product specifications, including problem statements, workflows, business rules, and acceptance criteria.
  • Break down large capabilities into sequenced, shippable pieces for engineering.
  • Test features before release, validate them against customer scenarios, and catch gaps proactively.
  • Build realistic test cases and demo data, write clear release notes, and gather post-launch feedback for continuous improvement.
