Product Manager

Alarm.comTysons, VA
$90,000 - $120,000Hybrid

About The Position

PointCentral is the leading smart property technology platform for residential rental communities — powering access, security, and automation across multifamily, single-family, build-to-rent, and short-term rental properties nationwide. We're a subsidiary of Alarm.com, which gives us the stability and infrastructure of a public company with the speed and ambition of a product-led startup. We are seeking a Product Manager to join our Enabling Technologies team where you will focus on the physical access systems that are essential for safe and efficient property operations. Vehicle gates, amenity spaces, unit doors — anywhere people move within a community — access control is what ensures the right people can get to the right places at the right times. Most people have rented an apartment and noticed the technology — or lack thereof — keeping the building running. Not many have thought about how to make it smarter. If you have, we'd like to meet you.

Requirements

  • Natural leadership and tenacity —you demonstrate strong self-motivation, critical thinking, and creativity. You don't wait to be pointed in a direction — you take initiative, communicate clearly, and find a way to get things done.
  • Curiosity and a learning mindset — you ask good questions, pick up new domains quickly, and are genuinely excited to understand how things work — whether that's a product, a workflow, or an industry.
  • Hands-on comfort with hardware and technology — you enjoy getting physical with products: devices, appliances, and the systems behind them. You can develop a thorough understanding of how technology works and translate that into better product decisions.
  • Real estate and PropTech fluency — experience in rental real estate or adjacent industries is highly valued. You understand the stakeholders, the workflows, and the pressures that shape the space.
  • Product craft — 2 or more years in a technology role, with at least 1 year as a product manager. A background in software engineering is a plus. No specific degree required — B.S., B.A., or relevant trade experience are valued equally.
  • Focus and prioritization — you can identify the most important product investments and stay locked in on delivering them, even when business opportunities and urgent requests are pulling in every direction.
  • Humility and range — you're willing to roll up your sleeves on miscellaneous product tasks as the business needs, and you treat customers, partners, and colleagues as collaborators, not just stakeholders. You're also willing to travel occasionally to spend time with them in the field.

Nice To Haves

  • A background in software engineering is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Own the access platform roadmap — lead the full product development lifecycle for our unified community access platform, managing how residents, staff, and visitors move through the property — and making that experience seamless, secure, and scalable
  • Build deep hardware and protocol expertise — develop fluency in access control hardware, communication protocols, and emerging standards like Aliro; stay ahead of new technologies shaping the future of physical access
  • Lead discovery with rigor — conduct customer interviews, research the competitive landscape, and synthesize signals from sales and support to continuously sharpen your understanding of what the market needs
  • Leverage AI to move faster — demonstrate proficiency in using AI tools to accelerate product work and collaborate more effectively with engineering
  • Cultivate a strong partner ecosystem — build and maintain relationships with technology partners that yield mutually beneficial product updates and enable fast resolution when unexpected issues arise
  • Influence at every level — support PointCentral leadership in strategic customer engagements and executive meetings with Alarm.com; represent the product with credibility and clarity
  • Enable the business to win — support beta testing, contribute to technical documentation, training resources, and internal enablement materials; partner closely with all revenue teams to qualify prospects, close sales, onboard customers, and resolve support issues — with a strong willingness to travel onsite when it matters
  • Stay ahead of the market — develop a deep understanding of the rental real estate landscape, tracking emerging business trends and translating them into product insight
