About The Position

Appian is seeking a Product Manager for the 2027 graduate intake. This role is designed for rising product professionals to launch their careers at Appian, embedding them directly as a product owner within a high-velocity engineering team. The Product Management function at Appian is responsible for the creation, refinement, and scaling of products and services that power their global platform. This role involves actively owning a prioritized product development backlog and shaping features through interactive design sessions, UX reviews, and usability testing. The position is based at Appian's headquarters in McLean, Virginia, and requires a commitment to in-person collaboration, with employees expected to be in the office 5 days a week. Appian provides AI automation for mission-critical work, automating complex processes in large enterprises and governments.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science or Computer Engineering with a strong academic record.
  • Prior experience in a professional, academic, or technical setting (includes internships, research, capstones, or consistent part-time/full-time employment).
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate in a professional environment.
  • Proven fluency in AI and LLMs, encompassing both the strategic development of AI-powered platform capabilities and the hands-on application of AI tools to accelerate daily workflows.
  • Appian will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and running sprint ceremonies.
  • Previous professional work experience or multiple internships in a related field.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience (e.g. executive roles in student organizations, club leadership, or captaincy of team-based activities).

Responsibilities

  • Act as the dedicated product owner for a small team of engineers, owning and prioritizing the product development backlog to ensure high-quality software delivery with every iteration.
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders to understand enterprise software product roadmaps, aligning team execution with the broader product vision and strategy.
  • Share ideas and gather rapid feedback on features through design sessions, mockups, UX reviews, and usability testing to guarantee user success prior to release.
  • Partner across engineering and business units to ensure smooth feature rollouts in an agile-led work environment.
